Persephone just with AEW earlier this year—but WWE may already be planning the next move as they’re interested in signing her after her current deal expires.
After it was clarified earlier this year that WWE never actually spoke to the 24-year-old while she was under contract with CMLL, the narrative seemed settled. She didn’t “choose AEW over WWE”—because WWE legally couldn’t make a move at the time. But that situation could change sooner than expected. According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter on April 16, 2026, WWE is already discussing plans to go after Persephone once her current deal situation opens up.
“Those in WWE are already talking about trying to get Persephone when her dual contract expires later this year.”
That detail shifts things in a major way. While WWE stayed on the sidelines due to contract restrictions, it now looks like they’ve been keeping a close eye on her—and are ready to act the moment they’re able to.
Persephone is currently working under a rare dual-contract setup, allowing her to compete in both AEW and CMLL, which is part of what made her signing so unique. But once that agreement runs out, she could quickly become one of the most sought-after names on the market.
For WWE, this isn’t about correcting a missed opportunity—it’s about timing. And if internal discussions are already happening, it’s clear they don’t plan on sitting this one out again. Now the question is whether AEW can lock her down long-term before that window opens, or if WWE will finally get its chance to make a move.
Do you think Persephone should stay with AEW, or would a move to WWE be the bigger play for her career? Let us know your thoughts.
