Nikki Bella’s WrestleMania 42 status may not be in danger after all, despite concern growing earlier this week.
Bodyslam.net reports that WWE officials are optimistic Nikki Bella will still be able to compete at WrestleMania 42, even after she was recently spotted wearing a walking boot. Apparently, Bella is scheduled to undergo another medical evaluation today ahead of SmackDown, which will likely determine whether she receives clearance in time for her scheduled match.
“WWE is optimistic that Bella will be able to compete at WrestleMania. Nikki Bella is getting her ankle checked out today prior to SmackDown.”
The update comes just after photos surfaced from Las Vegas showing Bella meeting fans alongside Brie Bella while still wearing a walking boot, which immediately raised questions about whether she would be physically ready in time for the event.
Bella has been dealing with an ankle injury dating back to the March 27 episode of SmackDown, and WWE had already begun discussing backup plans in case she wasn’t medically cleared. Several possible replacement teams were reportedly being considered to avoid disrupting the planned Women’s Tag Team Championship match.
Even with contingency plans in place, the latest update suggests WWE still believes Bella has a real chance of making it to the ring. With her ankle evaluation happening just days before WrestleMania, the final decision could come down to how she responds medically in the hours ahead. If Bella is cleared, it would keep the originally planned match intact. If not, WWE may be forced into a late change on one of the biggest stages of the year.
