WWE RAW in Laredo, Texas didn’t just bring the action — it also brought uncomfortable heat, and fans inside the arena made sure people knew about it.
The April 27 episode of WWE RAW took place at the Sames Auto Arena, but many fans in attendance complained about excessive heat and poor air conditioning throughout the night. According to local reports, the issue started hours before fans even entered the building.
District 5 Council Member Ruben Gutierrez explained that the arena actually lost power earlier in the morning, which caused major cooling problems that lasted into showtime. He described how the building struggled to recover once WWE production began setting up pyro and equipment inside.
“By 4 p.m., of course, WWE is setting up stuff there, fire going on inside there, fireworks going on to make sure stuff is working, heating up the place. Once the doors opened up at 5:30, the doors are open again, letting over 8,000 people in there. The AC is just going out, going out, going out, and the AC just could not recoup fast enough with 8,000 people in there, pyrotechnics going on inside the arena.”
The power outage happened around 2 a.m., and while electricity was restored a few hours later, the building never fully cooled back down. With doors opening and thousands of fans entering, the situation only got worse as the night went on.
Despite the uncomfortable conditions, officials confirmed there were no medical emergencies tied to the heat. The Laredo Fire Department reported that they received no calls from the arena and no illnesses or injuries were reported during the show.
Inside the ring, the heat was hard to ignore. Several WWE Superstars were visibly sweating during matches and segments as the show continued, showing just how warm conditions had become inside the venue.
Even with the issues, RAW still delivered major storyline developments. Roman Reigns responded to Jacob Fatu’s challenge for a Backlash match with the World Heavyweight Championship on the line, while hometown star Roxanne Perez received a loud reaction from the Laredo crowd during her tag team match alongside Raquel Rodriguez against Bayley and Lyra Valkyria.
While the show itself moved forward without major delays, the heat complaints have become one of the biggest talking points coming out of RAW, especially with fans sharing their experiences from inside the arena.
