WWE SmackDown RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR JUNE 12

Chained and shadowed to be left behind, nine and one thousand. Metal militia for your sacrifice, iron clad soldiers. Join or be conquered, the law of the land, what will befall you? The metallization of your inner soul, twisting and turning. On through the mist and the madness, I’m just trying to liveblog this pro wrestling show for you, folks.

The show opens with a recap of last week’s show focused on GUNTHER’s quest for justice over how his title match at Clash in Italy ended.

“American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes runs into Nick Aldis in a loading dock.

Aldis says GUNTHER hasn’t told him anything yet but he’s sure they’ll find out later tonight. Rhodes says he’s in a good place, that’s fine, let’s have a good SmackDown.

Cody keeps walking and runs into the Usos.

“Big” Jim immediately returns a fistbump but “Main Event” Jey hesitates before saying he’s gonna win King of the Ring and come after the WWE Undisputed Men’s Championship. Rhodes says he hopes he does, because if anybody deserves to chase that title, it’s Jey Uso, but he hopes it’s his own decision, and not Roman Reigns’.

Then we get the usual montage of talent arriving at the arena, including Finn Balor in an all white bucket hat and neckerchief with the knot centered at his throat and buddy I know you can do better.

Commentary informs us that Rhea Ripley is getting her injured knee checked out and we should have a timetable for her return soon.

Jade Cargill is interviewed backstage with orange… eyeshadow? Blush? It’s in both places and there’s too much of it and honestly it looks like I dunno if you’ve ever paged through an old history book with offset-printed maps where they didn’t QUITE get all the colors lined up and one border is just obviously way further south than it’s supposed to be?

Jade says she built her career off of pressure and if she won it once, she can win it twice. Her goons Michin and B-FAB chime in and Cargill tells Rhea Ripley she’s getting her lick back and she’ll see her at SummerSlam.

We get entrances ahead of our opening match, first Charlotte Flair, then Sol Ruca, then Lyra Valkyria

Charlotte Flair vs. Jade Cargill vs. Lyra Valkyria vs. Sol Ruca (Queen of the Ring Tournament First Round Match)

Everybody ganging up on Cargill to start, she manages to get Valkyria down in the corner and counters Flair and Ruca into a double suplex! Catching Lyra on a crossbody, fallaway slam throws her into Sol and Charlotte advances behind her and beckons her in! Laying chops in, German suplex, kip-up, Flair ends up on the floor and B-FAB and Michin put boots to her!

Alexa Bliss saves her bestie and gets overwhelmed by the two of them… TIFFANY STRATTON MAKES THE SAVE! Stratton throws Mia Yim over the barricade and brawls her out into the crowd as Alexa takes B-FAB up the ramp and to the back! Flair with a diving crossbody but Lyra and Sol break it up as we go to break!

Back from commercial, Cargill in control, working Ruca over, Sol with a springboard crossbody, Jade catches her but Valkyria cuts her off with a dropkick! Lyra throws Ruca out of the ring, lariats to Flair, whip reversed, enzuigiri sends the Queen to the floor! Sol back in, Valkyria catches her with a fisherman buster, Cargill delayed vertical, countered into a DDT!

Charlotte in with Natural Selection on Lyra, Sol breaks it up with a senton! Flair sidesteps a charge, back elbow from Ruca, whip reversed, Flair Flip, boot from the apron, up top, Sol meets her with an enzuigiri! Out to the apron, jump to the top rope, jockeying for position, Valkyria cuts her off, up top with Flair herself now, Jade underneath… TOWER OF DOOM!

Cargill and Flair trading elbows, handspring lariat from the Queen, spinning toehold, Ruca breaks it up with a missile dropkick! Lyra rolls Sol up, only two, whip to the corner, back body drop to the apron, Valkyria knocks her down with an elbow, off the ropes, wrecking ball dropkick takes Jade out!

Ruca takes everybody out with an Orihara moonsault! Back inside, frog splash… LYRA KICKS OUT AND WE GO TO BREAK!

Back from commercial, Cargill hits a spinning spinebuster on Ruca… NO DEAL! Jade goes up top, Flair cuts her off, jockeying for position, Sol up with her… DOUBLE SUPERPLEX! Valkyria whips Ruca to the corner, cut off with a kick, Charlotte charges in, Sol with a boot, springboard somersault double lariat!

Cargill takes Ruca out with a pump kick, puts boots to her, double chickenwing on Flair, Jaded… LYRA BREAKS IT UP WITH A DROPKICK! Cargill throws Valkyria out of the ring, Sol hits Sol Snatcher… VALKYRIA PULLS RUCA OFF THE COVER! Lyra up top, diving guillotine leg drop on Cargill, Natural Selection countered into a pin… NO GOOD!

The match breaking down, Sol involved, figure four leglock from Flair on Valkyria, bridging up…

Charlotte Flair wins by submission with the Figure Eight on Lyra Valkyria.

Tiffany Stratton runs into an interview backstage.

She says she’s not gonna pretend she and Charlotte Flair are besties or anything but they both agree they don’t want Jade Cargill as their next champion.

B-FAB and Michin roll up to accost Tiffany but Chelsea Green makes the save, screaming and waving a kendo stick.

The Usos are hanging out in the locker room when “Samoan Werewolf” Jacob Fatu rolls up.

They ask why he’s here, Jacob says the Tribal Chief sent him. The Usos say he already called the play and he’s not supposed to get involved in Jey’s match. Fatu says he’s not here for them, he’s here for Solo Sikoa, and asks “Big” Jim who told him to come out tonight. Jimmy says he’s here for his brother and they agree to stay out of each other’s way, more or less.

Back from commercial, we get a hype reel of Carmelo Hayes going to hang out with football men, who are coincidentally also at ringside tonight!

A Blake Monroe hype reel follows, wherein she calls out Charlotte Flair as one of the greats and claims she and Alexa Bliss are codependent, a thing she would never experience because true stars shine brighter alone.

Nick Aldis is on the phone chatting with someone when GUNTHER rolls up.

Aldis says everything is set up and they’re just waiting for the Ring General’s stipulation, so lay it on. GUNTHER says he can’t trust Nick’s officials, so for a match this important, he has to pick the referee. Aldis says fine, who’s it gonna be, and the Ring General tells him he’ll let him know by the end of the night.

Finn Balor is interviewed backstage.

He’s excited to be on SmackDown and he’s got a lot of friends here but also a lot of old foes, and first thing’s first, he’s in King of the Ring.

Ron “the Truth” Killings excitedly rolls up to him and starts chatting about how great it is that Judgment Day are back together and he and Damian Priest and Mom are excited to welcome him back but he can’t figure out the best way to bring Royce Keys in. There’s some confusion over constipation / consummation.

Priest rolls up and he and Balor have a cold greeting but Truth says it’s gonna be fine because they’re the tag champs and Finn is gonna be King of the Ring and they’re gonna build an ice castle together? Balor says he’s gonna go get ready.

Ron yells “We love you, Finn!” after him but Damian doesn’t like that and says he wants to focus on being tag champs, just the two of them. Killings says that’s classic Judgment Day, live laugh and love.

Brie Bell and Paige make their entrance ahead of our next match and send us to break.

Back from commercial, Fatal Influence make their entrance to get things going.

Brie Bella & Paige vs. Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley & Lainey Reid)

Bella and Henley to start, circling, Reid runs interference so Fallon can stack Brie up in the corner! Hard whip across, Bella explodes out of the corner with a lariat, side Russian legsweep, only good for two! Tag to Paige, double whip, double bulldog, running knee… NOPE! Lainey in, Paige cuts her off with a headbutt and tags Brie back in.

Chest kicks, Henley runs in, gets put in the ropes, Paige grabs her for the knee lifts in the ropes while Brie goes back to the chest kicks on Lainey! Jacy Jayne turns the tide with a cheap shot, Reid with grounded punches and a leg drop on Bella! Drawing her up, throwing her into the corner, tag to Fallon, working Brie over!

Running blockbuster gets Lainey a deep nearfall and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Bella trading elbows with Henley, Brie suplexes Reid from the apron to inside and uses the distraction to tag Paige in! Snap German suplex on Lainey, a straight suplex, this is her house, superkick… NO DEAL! PTO locked on, Henley breaks it up! Cradle DDT connects and again Fallon breaks it up!

Brie takes Henley out with a missile dropikick, Reid takes her out in turn, Paige rolls her up, referee late to the count and she kicks out! Fallon tags in, Bella low-bridges Lainey out of the ring, referee distracted with Brie again, trying for the PTO again but Jacy pulls Henley to the ropes!

The referee catches Jayne and ejects her from ringside and she has a shitfit about it! Henley with a small package, Brie rolls her over to counter it and slides out of the ring…

Brie Bella & Paige win by pinfall with a small package from Paige on Fallon Henley.

We get a recap of the three-way brawl between Cody Rhodes, GUNTHER, and Sami Zayn last week.

Backstage, Zayn is chatting with catatonic Johnny Gargano again, complaining about how he can’t win around here and he’s gonna start asking himself serious questions.

Candice LeRae, texting in the background, asks if serious questions include “when are you gonna get up and do something about it?” Sami says that’s it exactly and gets up to go do that, thanking Johnny for his help while Candice shakes her head disapprovingly.

We get some hype for CM Punk doing a convention meet-and-greet to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Los Garza are in Danhausen’s lab, begging him to recurse the Knicks.

They offer up a big sack of human monies and leave. Matt Cardona rolls up to say he doesn’t want the Knicks cursed again, Danhausen asks for human monies but Cardona doesn’t have any so he takes his watch and a ring.

Kit Wilson rolls up to yell at Danhausen for factory resetting Miz to 2010 by electrocuting him such that he only says his catchphrases. Danhausen asks Miz what he thinks of Danhausen and Miz says he’s awesome. They go back and forth, Danhausen says he likes him like this, and Kitty smashes some electrical equipment and gets shocked himself.

Sami Zayn makes his entrance and gets on the mic.

He paces for a moment to let scattered cheers turn into boos before saying it’s a little bit of a strange reaction considering he was in Europe the last couple weeks and he’s not comparing crowds but he will say that the ride or dies showed up in full force for him in Europe. But look, we’re all here and we have two choices, either sit with a sour look and boo him, or you can ride or die with the last real good guy.

As much as he’d love to come out here and party with the diehards, that’s not why he’s out here. He wants to clear the air with one man, he knows he’s back there, Cody Rhodes.

Enter “American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes.

Rhodes gets in the ring and asks Providence and his good friend Sami Zayn what they wanna talk about. Zayn asks if he could stop being the American Nightmare for one second and just be his friend Cody so they can have an earnest and honest conversation? There’s been a pattern the last few months, a series of misunderstandings.

Situations where he helps Cody and finds himself paying the price over and over for it. He says Rhodes made him feel like the worst person in the world a few weeks ago when he let GUNTHER choke him out but being honest he deserved it that night. Last week, Cody in the same position and Zayn does the right thing and helps and how does that night end?

He’s still flat on his back and Cody’s standing tall, so he has to ask himself eventually, is this an accident? He wants to know the truth. Rhodes says he’s basically asking him to explain pro wrestling to him when Sami is one of the best in the world. This is competition and now he’s asking him to turn it off?

This is a public forum and Zayn is wearing WWE merch that he thinks he believes more than Sami does? Turn it off? The two of them shouldn’t even be standing here, think about it, two years ago, WrestleMania 40, Sami was in the ring with him that night. Zayn says he wasn’t just some guy, he was the first guy out there, before Kevin Owens, Jey Uso, CM Punk, Randy Orton, John Cena, and if anybody had reason to have sour grapes about Cody winning it’d be him but to this day he’s happy Rhodes won because he’s a good guy.

He was happy for him, he really was, but all those guys he listed, how many of them are still his friends now? And it gets him thinking, is the problem all of those guys or is the problem Cody? Rhodes thinks about it for a moment and says everything is about change, especially here, and Sami knows that.

Every day you gotta be better than the last, and Cody wasn’t able to be honest with Kevin Owens, Randy Orton, John Cena, the way he’s being honest with Sami now. Zayn says that’s what he wants, and Rhodes raises his voice and says he’s standing here and taking the fire and they’re booing Sami and chanting that he sucks and the thing is lately he DOES suck.

Sami’s whining, crying, he’s not the Sami Zayn they took a ride with, not his Sami Zayn, and if anything, he is desperate. Let’s not pretend that it’s about anything between the two of them other than the WWE Championship, and he owes Sami an apology, he’s sorry that he has that and that means that Zayn never will.

SAMI SLAPS HIM ACROSS THE FACE AND IMMEDIATELY CLAPS HIS HAND OVER HIS MOUTH AND STARTS APOLOGIZING! He says he’s sorry over and over and grabs Cody’s hand and puts his hand on his shoulders as he keeps apologizing profusely. RHODES SLAPS HIM RIGHT BACK AND ASKS IF THEY’RE GOOD! Sami nods for a few beats and leaves the ring without verbally acknowledging Cody.

ZAYN GRABS A CHAIR AND RUSHES BACK TO THE APRON, JAW SET AND FURIOUS! He reconsiders and throws the chair to the floor and storms off, brow set and dark of countenance, almost crying as he heads up the ramp.

Solo Sikoa is backstage putting his gloves on when “Samoan Werewolf” Jacob Fatu rolls up.

Sikoa asks what the hell he wants and Fatu says he has a message from the OTC. It’s been way too long and long enough, he needs Solo to come home. Sikoa scoffs and asks if Roman Reigns really wants him to come home. That ain’t home, it’s a doghouse, and Jacob is his lapdog. Solo doesn’t understand what happened to Fatu, he used to be a killer.

A man everyone was afraid of, the Samoan Werewolf, and now he’s just Roman’s backup and he knows he’s right because he’s still standing here and Jacob has done nothing but come here and deliver a message. He tells Fatu to listen to him, Reigns has done nothing but embarrass, humiliate, and make him kneel down like a dog in front of the whole world and their family, and that’s not how you treat someone you love.

Roman wants him to come back? He’s not going, so tell Roman he can go to hell. Fatu straightens up and says he gets it, he understands everything Solo is talking about. He understands where he’s coming from, but he made his decision already and he’s gonna stand on business, so if the OTC sends him for Sikoa, he’s coming for him.

Solo says okay, go tell Roman if he wants him to come back home, then Reigns can come and get him, and leaves Jacob alone in the locker room.

We get a recap of Rey Fenix beating Laredo Kid for the AAA Cruiserweight Championship.

Fenix makes his entrance ahead of our next match, sending us to break.

Fast-paced feeling out, Fenix sends Axiom to the floor with a dropkick and dives on him! Back inside, springboard, Axiom catches him, off the ropes, satellite countered, fireman’s carry countered, shove off, leapfrog, sunset flip denied, Rey catches a stomp, ducks an enzuigiri, go-behind, O’Connor roll blocked but Axiom hits the German suplex!

Penalty Kick gets a nearfall, back and forth, Axiom with a Fujiwara armbar, Fenix rolls him to the ropes and forces the break! Action to the floor, Rey getting fired up, Axiom back inside, ducking and dodging, big dropkick right on the button sends the champion to the floor! Axiom calls his shot, Orihara moonsault connects and sends us to break!

Trading strikes, big crescent kick from Rey, up top, Axiom cuts him off with a kick, jockeying for position… GOODBYE AMIGO!

Axiom with a flying armbar, Fenix counters with a pin, rolling through, DDT blocked, duck the Golden Ratio in the corner and Axiom kicks steel! Rey with a jumping rolling solebutt in the corner, setting his challenger up top, Test of Strength, Fenix up with him, jockeying for position… AXIOM GETS THE AVALANCHE SPANISH FLY BUT REY FENIX KICKS OUT!

Jumping rolling solebutt connects a second time and a third, Rey sets Axiom up…

Rey Fenix wins by pinfall with the Mexican Muscle Buster, retaining the AAA Cruiserweight Championship.

GUNTHER comes to Nick Aldis backstage.

He says he’s made his decision, he needs somebody who’s watertight with the rulebook and lots of experience, but then he thought about the human factor and decided he needed a guy with his heart in the right place, a good guy, maybe the last real good guy, so for his match next week he wants Sami Zayn as his special guest referee.

A car rolls up outside the arena and Trick Williams and Lil Yachty get out to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Lil Yachty and Trick Williams make their entrance together.

Yachty gets on the mic first and gives Trick a big intro but Williams cuts him off midway and says usually they come out here and it’s a big party but today he’s got something to get off his chest. Lil asks what he means and Trick says after King of the Ring– Yachty says Dominik Mysterio cheated him but Williams says last week he lost.

He didn’t like it, it didn’t feel good, but the truth is in a weird way it woke something up in him and he feels a fire he hasn’t felt in a long time. He wants to step his game up and bring Smackdown to new levels and new heights. He sees everyone Tweeting “who’s the man to lead the brand” and the fact is Trick Williams is the leader of the new school.

Losing last week pissed him off and he’s gonna step up and show what he’s capable of. His name is Trick Williams and he’s still the United States Champion, still Hollywood Trick, still Mr. Lemon Pepper Steppers, nevermind who you thought he was, he’s still Trick James, bitch!

Enter “Absolute” Ricky Saints.

But before he can make it to the ring–

Enter Carmelo Hayes, cold shouldering Saints out of the way.

He tells Trick to listen up, we’re cutting all that off now, and here’s the problem– Ricky rushes into the ring and grabs a mic and Hayes continues, saying Williams comes out here catchphrase after catchphrase like a Dr. Seuss book, and he needs Trick to make up his mind, stop aura farming, and pick who he’s gonna defend the title against.

Ricky says if there’s any discussion he should be the guy, and Melo says Saints needs to get cut out of the picture because before he came along, he and Trick had something going. Hayes says they’re willing to kill each other for a shot at a guy who doesn’t want to defend the title, Saints says he beat Carmelo, Hayes says he beat him, and Williams says it doesn’t matter, just figure it out and whoever finally wins can come see him.

But until then, shut the hell up while grown folks is talking.

Trick goes to leave and Saints shoves Hayes into him to knock him off the apron! Melo and Ricky brawl, La Mistica into mounted punches, Carmelo gets the better of him until Williams comes back and puts him into the ringpost head-first! Book End on Saints and the champion stands tall!

Royce Keys is interviewed backstage.

Before he can say anything, Solo Sikoa rolls up.

He says he’s not trying to make Royce’s night any harder but they need to talk. The Bloodline is here and he knows what they’re doing here and what play they’re gonna run. They’re here to make sure Jey Uso makes it through this round of King of the Ring and who else is here? Jacob Fatu.

Keys called Jacob family but that guy is gone and he took a knee for Roman. Solo isn’t saying Royce needs to fight for him or with him, he just doesn’t want to see him become a casualty of Reigns’ war. Keys nods as Solo leaves.

Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton make their entrance ahead of our next match, sending us to break.

Back from commercial, “Michin” Mia Yim and B-FAB make their entrances to get things going.

B-FAB & “Michin” Mia Yim vs. Chelsea Green & Tiffany Stratton

Whip reversed, another try at the up and over, it works so good this time she does it again in the opposite corner, cartwheel Alabama Slam, Green blind tag, slide into a cover, only two!

B-FAB tags in, solebutt for two, heels working Chelsea over at some length here as we go to break.

Back from commercial, Yim snaps off an avalanche Frankensteiner… GREEN KICKS OUT! B-FAB tags in, block the tag, enzuigiri from Chelsea and the path is clear! She sidesteps the heels again, crawling in the right direction now… JADE CARGILL OUTTA NOWHERE TO PULL STRATTON OFF THE APRON! Green gets the knees up, back elbow to B-FAB, Killswitch connects!

But Michin is legal, she hoists Chelsea up…

B-FAB & “Michin” Mia Yim win by pinfall with a Styles Clash from Yim on Chelsea Green.

Post-match, Tiffany hits the ring and attacks Jade, getting a momentary advantage before succumbing to That Damn Numbers Game and eating Jaded!

Kiana James is interviewed backstage.

She says her client, no her friend betrayed her, and for us it’s gossip but for her it’s her life. She did everything for Giulia, and the one time she asked for help she’s useless.

Giulia rolls up and says she needed Kiana’s help with English and contracts, not with being a fighter. Kiana says she didn’t need Giulia for anything, Giulia says she used her, James says she eclipsed her. Giulia says her English is better now and she finally has the words to say– AND SHE SLAPS KIANA ACROSS THE FACE!

Finn Balor is walking backstage when he runs into Tama Tonga.

Tonga says it’s been a long time, welcomes him to SmackDown, and wishes him luck tonight to send us to break.

Back from commercial, Cody Rhodes chats with Nick Aldis backstage.

Cody asks if we’re really going through this, and Nick says these were the terms, this is the deal, and Rhodes knew what he was getting into. Cody says Sami Zayn is a bit of a wreck lately, his emotions all over the place.

Unfortunately for Rhodes, Sami is right next to him. Cody says they each gave each other one and asks if they’re good. Zayn says he doesn’t know, he’s a bit of a wreck lately and his emotions are all over the place, but he wishes Cody luck next week.

Commentary hypes up next week’s show.

LA Knight is interviewed backstage.

He says the Bloodline is in the building but more importantly LA Knight is in the building. He wouldn’t call himself Nostradamus but he’ll call himself LAdamus, and he’ll call Roman Reigns Nostradumbass and there’s no way Jimmy is gonna do it on his own tonight. Knight realizes Jim isn’t the one in the match and corrects himself before saying if he can defy the odds, by the grace of god, he’ll be wearing that king right to the front door of Roman Reigns where he’ll stomp him out.

“Main Event” Jey Uso makes his entrance ahead of our main event, sending us to break.

Back from commercial, we get the rest of our main event entrances– first Finn Balor, then Royce Keys, and last LA Knight to get things going.

Finn Balor vs. “Main Event” Jey Uso vs. LA Knight vs. Royce Keys (King of the Ring First Round Match)

Back from commercial, Balor knocks Keys off the apron, goes for a plancha… AND ROYCE CATCHES HIM AND SLAMS HIM INTO THE APRON! Hossing Finn back up, Uso cuts him off with a superkick and Knight takes him out with a wrecking ball dropkick! They three of them work together to clear the announce desk, put him up on Jey’s shoulders… TRIPLE POWERBOMB PUTS KEYS THROUGH THE ANNOUNCE DESK!

Back in the ring, Uso and Knight fight it out, Balor looks to roll Jey up but it’s only two! Fighting both men with punches at the same time, double legs into double stomps, inverted headlock elbow drop on LA… USO BREAKS IT UP! Jey with a superkick to Finn, Balor returns a knee, Sling Blade connects!

Charging in, shotgun dropkick, Finn goes up top, LA meets him but he drops him right on top of Jey… COUP DE GRACE CONNECTS BUT ROYCE PULLS BALOR OFF THE PIN AND THROWS HIM OVER THE TIMEKEEPER’S BARRICADE AND WIPES JIMMY USO OUT IN THE PROCESS!
