Spoilers for WWE Friday Night SmackDown (July 3) taped on June 29th after Raw including fallout from Night of Champions to set up Sami Zayn’s next challenger for the WWE Championship and more.
Tonight’s episode of WWE SmackDown (July 3, 2026) was taped in advance from Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey and will air at 8 p.m. ET on the USA Network.
This post will be updated with spoilers from the taping, including all the match results, rundowns of the promos, and any other interesting or noteworthy things that take place (at least, from what is revealed through spoilers, as WWE could always add more segments that did not air in front of the audience).
Here are your spoilers and results for WWE SmackDown – July 3, 2026:
- Note: The following information is based on Fightful Select’s preview of the lineup and some other miscellaneous reports.
- Sami Zayn had a promo segment to address winning the Undisputed WWE Championship at Night of Champions. It’s set up that Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes will fight each other in the main event to determine who gets the next shot at the title. Zayn also has a backstage segment with Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae somewhere in the show.
- Charlotte Flair was interviewed by Cathy Kelley prior to a six-woman tag team match wherein Jade Cargill, Michin & B-Fab defeated Charlotte Flair, Tiffany Stratton and Chelsea Green.
- Rey Fenix retained the AAA Cruiserweight Championship over El Hijo del Vikingo
- Giulia was interviewed by Cathy Kelley. Blake Monroe apparently attacks both Giulia and Kiana James.
- There is a backstage segment with The War Raiders and Fraxiom both trying to position themselves for a tag team title opportunity against Damian Priest and R-Truth, but no info yet on who gets to challenge Wepa Up and when (likely Fraxiom vs War Raiders in a No. 1 contenders’ match gets set up, you’d imagine)
- Carmelo Hayes gets involved in a Trick Williams segment
- Danhausen segment with The Miz, Kit Wilson, and Matt Cardona. Apparently, Danhausen will face JD McDonagh at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
- Lainey Reid defeated Brie Bella
- No. 1 Contender’s Match: Cody Rhodes defeated Jey Uso. There is reportedly interference in this match.
Author’s POV & Reactions:
With spoilers, there is obviously no need for a “predictions and preview” side of things, so instead, let’s review what this week’s results were and where things could go after this.
By and large, this sounds like a normal episode and nothing drastic will happen. Frankly, it sounds like a very skippable one. A rematch between Cody Rhodes and Sami Zayn was inevitable, and killing time before doing the War Raiders tag team match has got to be partially because WWE doesn’t seem to want to add more tag teams to SmackDown, so they’re just tossing one team in there and figuring they’ll sort it all out in a month or so, I’d bet. That never works out for them, by the way. Lainey Reid beating Brie Bella is another stall tactic. They’ve beaten Fatal Influence, but if you give Reid a win over Bella, that sets them up for another attempt. Rinse and repeat with everything, including Jade getting a win on Tiffany. Also, no Rhea Ripley again? If she’s that injured, crown an interim champion or strip her of the title. What’s up with the women’s division on the main roster (and The Vision) being so snake-bit these past 12 months?
