Xander Zayas weighed in just heavier than Jaron Ennis ahead of their super welterweight world title showdown in Brooklyn on Saturday.
Zayas defends his unified WBA and WBO titles against Ennis at the Barclays Center, live on DAZN pay-per-view.
The Puerto Rican squashed fight week rumours of potentially missing the 154 pound limit, by tipping the scales at 153.8lbs at Friday’s official weigh in.
The unbeaten 23-year-old came in eight ounces heavier than ‘Boots’, who was inside the super welterweight limit at 153lbs.
The pair then had a long, final staredown later on Friday at the ceremonial weigh in just outside Barclays.
Zayas, who unified the division in January with a points victory over Abass Baraou, had strong support from his Puerto Rican fans, who turned out in numbers to cheer on the unified titlist.
“I feel amazing,” he said.
“I’m happy. I’m good. I’m having fun and tomorrow night you guys will hear ‘And Still’ that’s all that matters.”
Former unified welterweight champion, Ennis, who turned 29-years-old on Friday, bids to become a two-weight world champion and is a strong favourite to dethrone his rival with the oddsmakers.
“It’s that time,” he said.
“I’m feeling tremendous. I’m feeling great.
“I’m ready to put on a beautiful show and tomorrow night you’ll hear the words ‘And The New.’”
