Yorkshire sign Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf – Cricket Blog

Yorkshire County Cricket Club have bolstered their ranks with the signing of seasoned Pakistan international Faheem Ashraf — and cricket fans at Headingley have every reason to be excited.

A Class Act With the Bat and Ball

The 32-year-old all-rounder arrives with serious credentials. Capped 17 times in Test cricket and an impressive 85 times in T20 Internationals for Pakistan, Ashraf is no stranger to performing under pressure on the biggest stages.

Perhaps most tellingly, he recently became only the second all-rounder in Pakistan Super League history to reach the double milestone of 1,000 runs and 100 wickets — playing for Islamabad United this very season. That kind of consistency across formats is rare, and Yorkshire have snapped up a genuine match-winner.

Replacing Sutherland With Quality

Ashraf steps in to replace Australian all-rounder Will Sutherland, who unfortunately withdrew through injury. Rather than panic, Yorkshire have responded with a shrewd, experienced replacement.

He’ll feature across the Vitality Blast group stages and will also contribute in rounds seven and eight of the Rothesay County Championship — giving Yorkshire firepower in both white-ball and red-ball cricket.

Headingley Bound and Raring to Go

Ashraf himself is clearly thrilled, citing Yorkshire’s strong reputation among his Pakistan teammates as a key factor in his decision.

General Manager Gavin Hamilton summed it up perfectly — Ashraf brings explosive lower-order hitting alongside genuine wicket-taking ability. For Yorkshire fans, this signing has the hallmarks of a real game-changer this summer.
