Young athletes team up for first U11 & U13 Pathway Development Cup

The youngest cohort of performance athletes get the chance to show what they can do at a brand-new competition this weekend – with personal and team pride at stake.

The U11 & U13 Pathway Development Cup is a new addition to the competition calendar for the 2025/26 season.

It provides a team competition opportunity for players from those two age groups who are currently part of one of the Table Tennis England network of Pathway Development Centres (PDCs) around the country. Each PDC selects a boys’ team and a girls’ team from each age cohort.

It also acts as a springboard to British Clubs Leagues (eg CadetBCL) and is therefore an important milestone in a young player’s development.

The format sees teams of two (minimum) play in the Corbillon format consisting of four singles and one doubles match – the doubles played as the third of the five matches.

All matches are best of three games due to the large number of matches played over a single day and all five matches in each fixture are played, with the victor earning one point.

The competition is round-robin, leading to a final league table at the end of the day – the Under-11s play on Saturday and the Under-13s on Sunday.
