Young Bucks and several NJPW, CMLL stars get matches for Forbidden Door

The Young Bucks are one of AEW’s biggest attractions, so naturally they need a match at Forbidden Door. Without any obvious story direction, AEW did the next best thing to fit the vibe of the PPV by bringing in competition from the outside. The Young Bucks will face not one, but two teams at Forbidden Door. Plus, two title bouts were made official with talent from NJPW and CMLL.

Tony Khan announced that AEW’s Elite will face CMLL’s Sky Team and NJPW’s Unbound Co. in a tag team three-way battle of factions. Sky Team is represented by Mistico and Mascara Dorada. Unbound Co. is represented by Shingo Takagi and Titan. Of course, you know that the Young Bucks are represented by Nick Jackson and Matt Jackson.

Also on the Forbidden Door menu is a pair of title bouts. PAC issued the challenge to Shota Umino for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship, and Shooter accepted. The backstory is Shota being a student of Jon Moxley. Gabe Kidd recently returned in Japan to deliver a violent message. If Shota wants revenge, then he can fight PAC at the PPV.

Challengers stepped up to fight Divine Dominion for the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship. Thunder Rosa wants a piece of gold, and she won’t back down from Megan Bayne or Lena Kross. Since Thunder has been busy in CMLL with her dual contract, she proposed bringing in a partner from Mexico. We later learned that the partner is Olympia.

Divine Dominion have no fear of La Mera Mera. They accepted the challenge without hesitation. Thunder Rosa is not competition. She is a sacrificial lamb. AEW made the tag bout official for the Buy In pre-show.
