Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad kaif drop massive praise for Rohit Sharma as he ends India’s ICC trophy drought

Former Indian cricket stars Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif praised Rohit Sharma as one of India’s captains after the team won the 2024 T20 World Cup by defeating South Africa, led by Aiden Markram, in the final on June 29. In a video shared on Kaif’s official social media, both these former cricket legends congratulated the Indian team and their support staff for their hard work that led to this much-wanted victory. Rohit Sharma, who missed winning the 2023 ODI World Cup after losing to Australia in the final, announced his retirement from T20 international cricket on Saturday, having finally won the World Cup trophy he had long hoped for.

Yuvraj and Kaif separately praised Rohit, Virat Kohli, and coach Rahul Dravid for their roles in this historic victory for the team. Like Rohit, Kohli also said he would retire from T20 internationals after the big final in Barbados. Meanwhile, Dravid had already stated he would not extend his contract with the Board of Cricket Council (BCCI) past this T20 World Cup. This win also signified the end of a legendary period in Indian cricket.

Rohit Sharma has become the World Cup champion. He managed the team excellently. He is a fantastic leader. There’s no one quite like him. He supported every team member. When India lost the 2023 World Cup final, he was very upset. He was deeply emotional. He guided the team to victory and then retired. Congratulations also go to coach Rahul Dravid for this unforgettable win,” Kaif mentioned.

“I’m really pleased for Rohit Sharma. I’ve never seen someone like him before. He’s an excellent captain. At the crucial point near the end of the game, he brought Bumrah in at just the right time, which turned the match around. Winning from that point was a big accomplishment. I’m really happy for Rohit, for coach Rahul Dravid, and for Virat Kohli. I really like Rohit Sharma, the captain. I like calling him the Hitman. I’m really happy for him. He’s the top captain,” Yuvraj said.

In addition to the famous batting pair, India’s reliable all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja also decided to stop playing in the shortest version of the game. But this victory has definitely given a well-earned achievement to these three Indian players and their coach Rahul Dravid.
