Zilla Fatu Explains Why He Has No Interest In Signing With AEW

Zilla Fatu has made it very clear where he wants his wrestling future to be — and according to him, AEW is not part of the plan.

While speaking with Bootleg Kev, the son of Umaga explained why he has no interest in signing with AEW even if WWE takes a long time to offer him a deal. According to Fatu, his loyalty remains with WWE because of both family legacy and personal goals he still wants to accomplish.

When asked directly whether he would consider going to AEW if WWE delayed calling him, Fatu immediately shut the idea down: “No, I think—uh—my heart is with the E right now.” After the interviewer pointed out that most of his family is already connected to WWE, Fatu made it clear that matters heavily in his decision: “Yeah. Yeah. 100%. Yeah. So, I’m not going to break that cycle.”

Fatu then explained that his motivation goes far beyond simply joining the same company as his relatives. He specifically referenced wanting to continue and fulfill his father’s legacy inside WWE.

“Come on—hello. And then not only that, I got unfinished business as far as my dad’s legacy to fulfill. So, that’s why. Yeah, that’s why.”

He also made it clear that while honoring his family remains important, he still wants to establish himself as his own star at the same time.

“So, I want to go over there and turn that shit up and, you know, at the same time, build my own brand.”

Fatu has spent the last several years building his name on the independent wrestling scene, including appearances for Reality of Wrestling, Booker T’s promotion that currently works closely with WWE through the WWE ID system. Back in October 2025, Fatu openly campaigned for a WWE ID opportunity on social media, encouraging fans to help push his name into the conversation.

Bottom line — Zilla Fatu isn’t hiding where he wants to end up. Despite interest and opportunities potentially existing elsewhere, he says his heart is with WWE, and he wants to continue both the Fatu legacy and build his own identity inside the company.

Do you think Zilla Fatu should head straight to WWE, or would spending time elsewhere first help him even more long-term? Leave your thoughts and feedback below.
