UFC lightweight calls for showdown with Paddy Pimblett after UFC 324

UFC lightweight Mateusz Gamrot is interested in a possible showdown with Paddy Pimblett after his UFC 324 defeat.

Ever since losing to Justin Gaethje at UFC 324, Paddy Pimblett has been subjected to a lot of criticism – some fair, and some potentially unfair. The Liverpudlian certainly showed a great deal of grit throughout this contest, but he just wasn’t able to hang in there with a big power puncher like ‘The Highlight’.

Now, it’s not quite clear as to what’s next for Paddy Pimblett. There are plenty of options on the table for the UFC and the man himself to entertain, but he has some work to do if he’s serious about vaulting himself back up to the championship level.

In a recent interview, the aforementioned Matuesz Gamrot made his own case for squaring off with Pimblett at some point in the future.

Gamrot declares interest in Pimblett fight

“Well, here politics, media presence, and ticket sales won,” Gamrot said in a translated interview with In The Cage Poland. “They wanted to push Paddy at all costs to make him champion. Fortunately or unfortunately, Gaethje simply ruined those plans.

“I think now they’ve brought him back down to earth, and he’ll be more accessible for other fighters, meaning for us to fight him, and also show where his place really is. If you’re asking about the technical aspect, it wasn’t top level. I think (Dan) Hooker perfectly summed it up by saying that Paddy looked like a jumping giraffe with his hands on his stomach and didn’t know how to find himself in there.”

“I think it would be a great situation if I could face him and get the chance to fight Paddy,” Gamrot said. “Because firstly, it would be a great fight for me, but not necessarily for him. I think then I could verify all those gaps in his game.”
