Belgian side Westerlo remain alive in the race for a European qualification spot after Bryan Reynolds’ latest impressive performance at right back.
Reynolds delivered the game-winning assist on Saturday in Westerlo’s 1-0 road win over Sporting Charleroi. The American defender earned SBI Americans Abroad Player of the Week honors as he tied his career-best haul for single season goal contributions.
Reynolds teed up Arthur Piedfort for Westerlo’s breakthrough goal with five minutes to play. Piedfort made no mistake with the finish, giving Westerlo a 14th league win of the season and moving them one point out of a UEFA Conference League qualifying spot.
The 24-year-old Reynolds also won four duels, made seven defensive recoveries, and eight clearances as Westerlo registered a first clean sheet since April 21. Reynolds has now made 38 appearances in all competitions, tying his amount from the 2024-25 campaign.
Westerlo will now aim to pick up two final victories over the next week, hosting Standard Liege on Tuesday before visiting Royal Antwerp on Saturday. Reynolds will be expected to start in both of those matches, as he looks to hit the 40-appearance mark and led Westerlo into Europe for the first time since 2011-12.
Here is a closer look at this week’s top Americans Abroad performances:
Antonee Robinson
Antonee Robinson played the hero for Fulham in the Cottagers trip to Wolves.
Robinson scored his first-career English Premier League goal in Fulham’s 1-1 road draw on Sunday. The USMNT left back stepped up from the penalty spot and equalized for Marco Silva’s men, keeping their slim hopes of obtaining a European spot alive.
It also marked one of Robinson’s best performances of the season.
Christian Pulisic
AC Milan moved one step closer to sealing a return to UEFA Champions League action next season.
Christian Pulisic came off the bench to set up Zachary Athekame’s insurance goal in Milan’s 2-1 road victory over Genoa. The USMNT attacker registered his fourth Serie A assist of the campaign, giving him a needed boost of confidence with one match to play.
Third-place Milan will take on Cagliari in their season finale, knowing a victory would officially seal their UCL return.
Ricardo Pepi
Ricardo Pepi ended his Eredivisie campaign on a high note.
Pepi scored once from the penalty spot in PSV’s 5-1 victory over FC Twente on Sunday. It gave Pepi his 19th goal of the season in all competitions and his fifth-straight match with a goal to his name.
Pepi should be full of confidence heading into a likely USMNT call-up next week.
Joe Scally
It was a positive end to the Bundesliga season for Joe Scally.
Scally played the full 90 minutes in Borussia Moenchengladbach’s 4-0 season finale victory over Hoffenheim. The USMNT defender won eight duels, completed six tackles, and made three defensive clearances in his 35th appearance of the season.
Scally now heads into the final year of his contract, opening the door to a potential exit for a new opportunity.
