Caleb Tiernan NFL Draft Profile

The 2026 NFL Draft will be a great event for teams to start building for their future. Here is the Caleb Tiernan NFL Draft Profile.

Caleb Tiernan Background

Position: Offensive Tackle

School:
Northwestern

Size:
6-foot-8, 323 pounds

Class: Senior

2025 stats: Second Team All-Big Ten

Tiernan was a four-star recruit in the class of 2021 who signed with Northwestern out of Michigan. He redshirted and played three games in his first season. In 2022, he started five games at right tackle. The 2023 season was his first full season as a starter and he lined up at left tackle. He helped the team go 8-5 that year. In 2024, he was an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten for his play at left tackle. The team struggled, though, with only five wins. For the 2025 season, Tiernan was named Second Team All-Big Ten for his play. He led the Wildcats to a seven-win season.

Following the season, Tiernan has been preparing for the 2026 NFL Draft. He is currently projected to be a second to fourth round pick.

Caleb Tiernan Strengths

Tiernan has good size for the position, as he measured at 6-foot-8 and 325 pounds at the NFL Combine. With his size comes good play strength, but there is more room to fill out his frame. It is a solid start for an NFL career, as he has good measurables in this regard and can add more play strength as time goes along.

Especially for his size, Tiernan can move decently well. He is able to get to the second level as a run blocker decently well. Tiernan can also mirror pass rushers decently well for a player of his size. He won’t wow anyone with his movement abilities, but given how tall he is, it is impressive.

In college, Tiernan proved to be a much better pass blocker than a run blocker. He can mirror pass rushers pretty well and doesn’t give up his edge too easily. He also has a solid anchor and is able to stall power rushers at a decent rate. Tiernan has experience at both tackle spots and held up well as a pass blocker in both cases.

Caleb Tiernan Weaknesses

While he is taller for the position, Tiernan doesn’t have great length. At the NFL Combine, he had arms that were just over 32 inches which is below average for the position. He can struggle blocking edge rushers with length. A move to guard could help his lack of length.

His run blocking is a little behind his pass blocking at this point. Tiernan can struggle to sustain blocks for a long period of time. Defenders can shed and make plays on ball carriers. He can get to the second level, but his pad level can get too high at times and those blocks can lack some power.

He is a good pass blocker, but can give up inside counters. Tiernan can make sure that some edge rushers can’t get around the edge, but he has trouble reacting to them when they counter to the inside. A move to guard can help, but if he stays at tackle, not lunging and trusting technique will be key.

Projected Draft Grade: Second Round Pick-Fourth Round Pick

Draft Grade: Third Round Pick
