Cricket South Africa (CSA) has confirmed the South Africa A squad that will travel to England next month for a multi-format tour against the England Lions.
Hollywoodbets Dolphins batter Marques Ackerman will lead the side across both formats, captaining the team in two four-day matches and three 50-over games scheduled between 22 May and 09 June.
World Sports Betting Western Province seamer Dane Paterson returns to the national setup after being named in the four-day squad. Dafabet Warriors batter Jordan Hermann also earns selection for the red-ball leg after recovering from the hamstring injury that ruled him out of the T20 International series against New Zealand in March.
Among the other notable names included are Proteas batter Tony de Zorzi and newly contracted seamer Ottneil Baartman. Dolphins fast bowler Nqobani Mokoena receives his first South Africa A call-up, marking an important milestone in his career.
Head coach Wandile Gwavu believes the squad reflects continuity and consistency within the SA A structure.
He explained that the group has largely been built around players who have delivered strong performances both at SA A level and in domestic cricket. Gwavu added that touring England presents an important opportunity for players to test themselves in unfamiliar conditions, particularly with experienced players like Paterson bringing valuable knowledge of English surfaces.
He also noted that several players in the one-day squad were part of the recent T20 series against New Zealand, and this tour gives them another chance to continue developing their skills, adapt to different playing environments, and grow their games.
The squad is set to depart for England on 16 May ahead of the opening four-day match, which begins on 22 May at Arundel Castle Cricket Club Ground. The second match will take place in Beckenham from 29 May.
The one-day series will follow in June, starting at Grace Road in Leicester on 05 June, before concluding with matches in Worcester on 07 and 09 June.
