Le Mis FLAMETHROWER – May 9th, 2026

Jacob Misiorowski, SP, MIL

To say that Misiorowski was amped up to be pitching against the Bronx Bombers on Friday night would be a massive understatement. The youngster threw the seven fastest pitches ever recorded by Statcast (since 2008) for a starting pitcher. Mis came in with a league-leading 99.3 MPH fastball velocity on the season, but averaged 101.1 MPH across his 57 four-seamers during Friday’s contest. The velocity is exciting on its own, but it’s the result that really raises eyebrows. The 24-year-old shut down the potent Yanks lineup, surrendering zero runs on two hits and two walks, while striking out 11. He now owns a 2.45 ERA, .95 WHIP, and a league-leading 14.32 K/9 across 44.0 innings of work this season.

Yordan Alvarez, OF, HOU

Alvarez broke out of his mini-slump on Friday, hitting his 13th homer and finishing 2 for 4 with two RBI. He was 3 for 23 with zero XBHs over the last six games. Despite the recent dip in production over the past week, the 28-year-old continues to prove he is one of the top sluggers in baseball. He owns a .324/.424/.655 triple-slash line to go along with 13 homers, which is tied for 3rd in the league. What’s more impressive are his expected stats; Alvarez has a .501 wOBA, .356 xBA, and .756 xSLG, all of which rank in the 100th percentile.

Adley Rutschman, C, BAL

Rutschman went 2 for 3 with a solo homer on Friday evening, giving him a .325 average to go along with five homers across 91 PAs this season. The 28-year-old backstop hasn’t quite lived up to his billing the past few seasons, but has quietly had himself a stellar start to the 2026 campaign. Rutschman has demonstrated excellent bat control thus far (11.6% Whiff%, 97th percentile), which has led to a career-best 12.1% K% and 93.1% Z-Contact%. If he can remain healthy, he should easily rank among the top-5 fantasy catchers in 2026, with a ceiling of number one.

Brandon Marsh, OF, PHI

Marsh extended his hitting streak to ten games on Friday night, going 1 for 3 with a pair of walks and an RBI.  He is now hitting a clean .333 on the season with four homers and three stolen bases. Marsh is known for having a historically high career BABIP, and he has continued that trend in 2026 with a mark of .388 that ranks 4th in the league. The 28-year-old uses the whole field and doesn’t hit an aggressive amount of fly balls, which allows him to maintain a solid average. Marsh’s two walks on Friday were also a welcome sight, as his 5.1% BB% is a career low. Despite the lack of free passes, Marsh has cut his K-rate down significantly; his current 19.1% K% is the best of his career by a wide margin (career 30.7% K%).

Hunter Goodman, C, COL

Goodman went 4 for 5 with a homer and two RBI on Friday night in Philly. The 26-year-old is slashing .254/.324/.530 with 10 homers and 17 RBI through 148 PAs this season. While his aggressiveness, bordering on over-aggressiveness, at the plate is a concern, his upside at the catcher position is undeniable. Goodman’s 35.6% Whiff% ranks in the 4th percentile while his 37.2% K% ranks in the 1st. However, his HardHit% ranks in the 95th percentile, and his 14.9% Barrel% ranks in the 86th. The hefty K% will make it hard for Goodman to be consistent, but his position and home-field advantage make him a certain play in all but the shallowest of fantasy formats.
