IPL 2027 Rajasthan Royals (RR) Likely Best Retained Players List

IPL 2027 Rajasthan Royals (RR) Likely Best Retained Players List

With Yashasvi Jaiswal, a likely outward trade, discover the Rajasthan Royals (RR) best retained squad and released players list for IPL 2027.

Imagine making your IPL debut as one of India’s brightest Under-19 talents in 2020 and, within just a few years, establishing yourself as one of the finest opening batters in both the IPL and Test cricket. But in sport, the rise of one extraordinary talent can sometimes change the trajectory of another. That is the situation Yashasvi Jaiswal finds himself in today. After announcing himself with a sensational start to his career, Jaiswal is now facing an unexpected challenge following the emergence of once-in-a-generation talent Vaibhav Suryavanshi.

Being overshadowed by a 15-year-old prodigy is an unusual situation for any established cricketer, yet Jaiswal now finds himself at the centre of that discussion. Vaibhav has already shown the potential to become one of India’s defining batters over the next decade, and his rapid rise has naturally shifted much of the spotlight away from Jaiswal. While the two can certainly coexist, it is understandable why Jaiswal may sooner or later seek an environment where he can once again become the focal point of a batting lineup and continue his own remarkable journey.

But why later, when it can happen sooner? Yes, there’s a speculative trade talk going on between the Mumbai Indians and the Rajasthan Royals, where Hardik Pandya or Suryakumar Yadav could be traded to RR, and Yashasvi Jaiswal to the Mumbai Indians. If Hardik and SKY trade materialises, MI would be keen to get Jaiswal in the side, as he is not only a local Mumbai boy, but will be an ideal replacement for Rohti Sharma, who is nearing the end of his career.

Will Yashasvi Jaiswal Leave Rajasthan Royals Before IPL 2027?

While Jaiswal’s trade or release rumours are still ongoing, there’s definitely breadth to the discussion. If not this year, Jaiswal himself may take the decision to release himself if he goes to the IPL 2028 Mega Auction. In addition to being an aggressive batter at the top, Jaiswal is also a potential Captaincy candidate. With Hardik and SKY almost on the verge of exit from MI, Rohit nearing his career, and Bumrah having injury issues, Jaiswal could well be in line to lead the MI side as well in a couple of years.

So, with Jaiswal as a potential release, who else will the RR management think to release and retain ahead of the IPL 2027 Mini Auction? If we observe the current squad list for RR, the Overseas contingent of Dasun Shanaka and Adam Milne looks almost certain to be released by the RR management. Both acted as filler OS fillers in the absence of Sam Curran, and with Curran set to be back in 2027, these two could be released as they don’t add significant value to the side.

Apart from Shanaka and Milne, RR could finally move on from Sandeep Sharma, who not only doesn’t have age on his side, but was also not given enough opportunities in IPL 2026, when they had the option to play him. So, it is clear RR are moving on from Sandeep, and alongside Sandeep, RR may decide to release unutilized players like Aman Rao, Kuldeep Sen, and Sushant Mishra. Overall, seven players appear to be the minimum number RR could release ahead of the IPL 2027 Mini Auction.

RR Released Players IPL 2027 List

  • Aman Rao
  • Yashasvi Jaiswal
  • Adam Milne (OS)
  • Dasun Shanaka (OS)
  • Kuldeep Sen
  • Sandeep Sharma
  • Sushant Mishra

Even after releasing these players, including Yashasvi Jaiswal, RR will have its core intact. While Jaiswal’s release will depend on which player is traded by another franchise, RR may not be involved in an all-cash deal, as it would significantly reduce their team’s quality. But aside from Jaiswal, RR still has the likes of Vaibhav, Dhru, Parag, Hetmyer, Donovan Ferreira, Sam, Jadeja, Archer, Nandre, Brijesh, Bishnoi, and Punja.

These are quality players that RR shall retain, and alongside this core, the RR side shall retain backups like Ravi Singh, Lhuan de Pretorious, Tushar, Vignesh, and Charak. Overall, 19 players is what RR will have in mind to retain, and this includes 7 Overseas players. With such a heavy number retained, RR may look to fill the gaps in IPL 2027, as this side still looks full of quality. However, if Jaiswal is a likely release, a like-for-like quality player is much needed.

So, that’s about the best retained and released players list for Rajasthan Royals (RR) for IPL 2027. With a young core built around Vaibhav Suryavanshi, Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel, the Rajasthan Royals appear well-positioned for the future. However, if Yashasvi Jaiswal eventually departs, replacing one of India’s finest young openers will remain the franchise’s biggest challenge heading into IPL 2027.

The team did well in 2026, having finished 3rd. With Vaibhav’s rise, and a strong core in place, RR can also look at their second title next year. Thanks for reading!
