Preview & Predictions for AEW Dynamite:
On tap for tonight’s episode, Tony Khan decided that even though it isn’t a special themed episode, why not just have a whopping four championships on the line? Crazy? Awesome? I’m here for it.
Darby Allin will defend the AEW World Championship against Brody King. This is part 2 of Allin’s plan to continually defend the title every week until he no longer can. I fully expect him to retain, obviously, as it would be quite a damper for him to lose the belt after just two defenses.
Another belt I fully expect to stay where it’s put is the International Championship, as Kazuchika Okada puts it on the line against Ace Austin. There’s just no way Okada loses that before facing Konosuke Takeshita.
I’d also wager The Divine Dominion are safe bets to retain the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship titles over Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander. There’s more to the Shida and Statlander storyline than their sudden tag team.
The one title I do think is potentially in jeopardy is Kevin Knight’s TNT Championship. “The Jet” could very well retain over Maxwell Jacob Friedman, but this is a belt MJF hasn’t won yet and could be the bargaining chip for what he puts on the line to get a shot at Allin and the world title, as Darby did say Max would have to put something up to be granted another opportunity. Gun to my head, I think Knight is retaining, but if any belt changes hands, it will be this one.
Also, The Brawling Birds will be in action, as will RUSH, and Cage & Cope will face RPG Vice. Any time someone is listed as “in action”, that person will win that match, and Adam Copeland and Christian Cage aren’t going to lose to Rocky Romero and Trent Beretta, who are more on the “enhancement talent” side of the roster.
Here are your results for AEW Dynamite – April 29, 2026:
- AEW TNT Championship Match: Kevin Knight (c) defeated MJF. MJF was about to attack Knight after the match, but Darby Allin came down from the ceiling to send MJF into a retreat. MJF then complained that he wants his rematch for the title, but Darby said no, and that if he retains over Brody King, the next shot will go to Kevin Knight instead. Brody King came out to say he is going to be who Knight will face next week.
- Cage quickly accepted the I Quit stipulation. Cope called him out on that being quick to accept it given his history with I Quit matches here. Cage remains steadfast that he never said “I quit.” Cope jokes that he totally did, but he’s not going to say it this time.
- The Brawling Birds defeated Emily Jaye and Jordan Blade
- Thekla and Skye Blue talked some trash about how many dumb bitches there are on the roster.
- AEW International Championship Match: Kazuchika Okada (c) retained over Ace Austin
- Swerve Strickland is going after Bandido, according to a vignette.
- Will Ospreay is going to prepare and train with The Death Riders.
- Cage & Cope defeated RPG Vice by pinfall.
- TBD – AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship Match: The Divine Dominion (c) vs Hikaru Shida and Kris Statlander
- TBD – Rush vs ???
- TBD – AEW World Championship Match: Darby Allin (c) vs Brody King
