Dolphin put the previous rounds disappointing showing behind them to put in an excellent performance to comprehensively defeat 3rd place Monkstown.

They started well and the former Carrigaline-Dolphin U18.5 captain Richie Heaslip opened the scoring and full back Hunter Yarrall made it 7-0.

Out half Cam O’Shaughnessy was next on the score board with his 28th AIL try for Dolphin and Hunter once again added the extras.

Top scoring winger for Monkstown, Cian O’Donoghue scored his 12th try of the season when he collected a pass just  in front of the goal line to score in the corner and centre Matt Stapleton converted from the corner flag.

Dalton O’Shaughnessy powered over from close in for an unconverted try giving Dolphin a 19-7 advantage. This advantage was short lived as Tom Griffin scored from the next play, Stapleton again converting from the corner as the half time whistle went- 19-14.

The next score was the try of the game, winger Karl Waterman saw a gap, went through it and side stepped the full back to score under the post making it easy for Hunter.

Richie Heaslip scored his 2nd try of the day and Dolphin were 31-14 ahead, but there was still 20 mins on the clock.

It was the longest scoreless period of the game , but there was no let up by Dolphin, tackling time and time again to defend their line and Sam Boyle was rewarded with a try in the last play which saw Dolphin inflicting the biggest defeat (22 points) Monkstown have had this season.
