Alex Condon confirms return to Florida Gators after NBA draft evaluation

Florida forward Alex Condon is returning to the Gators for his senior season, according to NBA insider Shams Charania, who reported the news on Wednesday with Jeremy Woo. Charania wrote that Condon, “the No. 30 prospect on ESPN’s Top 100,” will come back to Gainesville and is “a projected first-rounder in 2027 and among the top big men in college basketball.”

The decision gives Florida another season with one of the most productive big men in the SEC. Condon averaged 15.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.4 blocks and 0.7 steals per game in 2025-26 while starting all 34 games.

His junior-year leap was significant on both ends. Condon shot 55.6% from the field and 62.7% from the free-throw line, while also giving Florida a reliable interior presence and a connective passing option from the frontcourt.

The 2025-26 numbers marked a clear jump from his sophomore season, when he averaged 10.6 points and 7.5 rebounds in 37 games. His role expanded from a solid supporting piece into a centerpiece in the Gators’ half-court offense.

Condon also improved as a facilitator. He finished the season with 3.6 assists per game, a strong number for a forward, and that playmaking helped Florida keep its offense moving when defenses collapsed inside.

His progression has been steady since he arrived in Gainesville. As a freshman in 2023-24, he averaged 7.7 points and 6.4 rebounds while making 1.3 blocks per game in 36 appearances.

Over three seasons, Condon has compiled a career line of 11.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 blocks per game while shooting 51.1% from the floor. That combination of size, passing and rim protection is why NBA scouts view him as a likely first-round name down the road.
