Allan Saint-Maximin set to face Miguel Almiron in next match after imminent move

Allan Saint-Maximin is on the move once again.

The former Newcastle United winger having most recently spent the second half of the 2025/26 season with Lens.

They were desperate to keep Allan Saint-Maximim after he helped them win the French Cup and finish runners-up in Ligue 1. ASM scoring four goals and providing three assists in 13 appearances.

However, the French winger opting to move to yet another new club.

L’Equipe say their information is that Allan Saint-Maximin has agreed to join MLS club Charlotte FC.

Still only 29-year-old forward, his next move will see ASM play for the tenth club of his career.

Allan Saint-Maximin was sold by Newcastle United to Saudi club Al-Ahli for £23m in summer 2023, before then playing in Turkey for Fenerbahce, moving on to Club America in Mexico, before most recently Lens in his native France.

Now a free agent, Allan Saint-Maximin is set to replace Wilfried Zaha at Charlotte FC.

Zaha recently left the Eastern Conference side ahead of the now two-month MLS  break in play due to the World Cup.

Assuming Allan Saint-Maximin does indeed join Charlotte FC, he is set to face his old Newcastle United teammate Miguel Almiron in his first match.

Charlotte FC play at home to Atlanta United on Wednesday 23 July in their next league match. Allan Saint-Maximin’s new side are currently 6th in the league at the halfway point, whilst Miguel Almiron and Atlanta are second bottom (of fifteen) which is the same position they ended in last season after Miggy returned to them from Newcastle United.
