Please go on over to our TikTok channel (@topofthecircle) at around 11:45 a.m. for whiparound coverage of the two most prominent Division I women’s lacrosse conference tournament finals.
Today, you’ll see three teams (Northwestern, North Carolina, and Maryland) who have won 16 of the last 19 NCAA titles — you might say they are lacrosse’s current royalty. Stanford, who is playing UNC in the ACC final, has won exactly four NCAA postseason games in their history. The Cardinal, however, are a definite threat. They have a collection of players, led by Tennessean Aliya Polisky, who might wind up being that one team nobody would like to face in the bracket when it comes out in two weeks.
Note here that these are the only two conference tournaments being contested this week; next week, with the culmination of the other 13 tournaments, Selection Sunday is going to be an absolute zoo.
