As previously reported, Kairi Sane was one of over 20 talents let go by WWE during the weekend of April 23rd. Many current and former wrestlers have expressed surprise at Sane’s release, especially since she was still actively involved in the feud between Asuka and IYO SKY.
According to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com, Sane may not be completely finished with WWE just yet. Alvarez mentioned that there is a belief within WWE that Sane could make an appearance at Backlash, where Asuka and SKY are scheduled to compete. He also noted that there is seen to be a better than 50% chance that Sane will show up, likely to help conclude the storyline. It remains unclear if her potential appearance would be a one-off or if it could lead to a more permanent return.
To clarify, Alvarez is reporting on the opinions of people backstage at WWE and has not confirmed any plans to officially bring Sane back. Sane has been involved in an extensive storyline where SKY separated from both Asuka and herself, and Asuka has been portraying a bullying dynamic toward Sane, treating her as a subordinate for months since their split.
