Baron Corbin may be much closer to a WWE comeback than fans first realized, and the latest update makes it sound like things are moving fast.
Corbin departed WWE in November 2024 and has since been active outside the company, including work with Major League Wrestling. During his MLW run, he teamed with Donovan Dijak as The Skyscrapers, giving fans a very different look at the former WWE star after more than a decade under the company banner.
Now, Fightful Select has learned that Corbin has finished up obligations with some of the companies he had been working with on a regular basis. That includes MLW, where his work alongside Dijak had become one of his most notable post-WWE projects. The update also noted that people in the industry believe Corbin has either already signed with WWE or is expected to do so very soon.
That lines up with recent talk from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, where Corbin’s name came up in connection with a possible WWE return. Meltzer said he had not heard that a deal was officially complete, but made it clear that Corbin returning to WWE had been discussed.
“Probably back. Right back in WWE. I’ve not heard a done deal, but I know it’s been talked about, yes.”
Meltzer also connected Corbin’s name to recent SmackDown teases involving Danhausen, though he made it clear that part was his own speculation.
“On the SmackDown show when Danhausen was talking about something bigger, my gut was that that’s who it is. That’s just my speculation.”
Even without confirmation of that specific creative direction, Meltzer said WWE’s interest in Corbin has absolutely been discussed behind the scenes.
“I just know that he’s been talked with about being brought in. It might even be done but I haven’t had officially confirmed to me it’s done, but I have 100% been confirmed it’s been heavily talked about.”
Corbin spent over a decade with WWE before his exit, working through several different versions of his character, including King Corbin, Happy Corbin, and Constable Corbin. He was never the flashiest name on the roster, but WWE used him often because of his size, experience, reliability, and ability to slide into a variety of roles.
With Corbin now finishing up outside commitments, the timing only adds more fuel to the idea that his WWE return could be right around the corner. Whether that comeback connects to Danhausen or goes in a completely different direction, it sounds like the door is very much open for Corbin to step back into the company.
