Ben Whittaker vs Braian Suarez – Results & Post-Fight Report

Ben Whittaker again wasted little time in remaining undefeated at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, as he needed less than a round to dismiss Argentina’s Braian Nahuel Suarez in their light heavyweight contest set for ten rounds.

Whittaker stopped Suarez live on DAZN as he continues to impress.

The original bill-topper was set to be Callum Smith against David Morrell, but Smith withdrew due to injury, and Whittaker was upgraded to main event status.

Olympic Silver medallist Whittaker (11-0-1, KO8) made a Matchroom debut last November, where he needed just over two minutes to dispatch Benjamin Gavazi, while Suarez (21-4, KO20) was best known for dropping Lyndon Arthur before being knocked out in ten in a challenge for the IBO belt in 2023.

Whittaker did as he pleased in the first round, and a heavy cuffing right hand robbed Suarez of his senses, and dumped him to the canvas, where he couldn’t regain his footing, and was counted out.

Joe McGrail vs Aaron Hayden

On the undercard, Joe McGrail (13-0, KO6) went up to ten-round level for the first time, and a massive body shot scored a fifth-round knockout win against Aaron Hayden (10-1, KO2) to take the Central Area super bantamweight title and the WBA Continental Gold belt.

Remaining Undercard

In eight-rounders, Molly McCann (4-0, KO1) went that distance for the first time, and took a competitive points win against the tough Ashleigh Johnson (3-4, KO0).

McCann was adjudged a 78-74 winner for the scoring referee.

Stephen Clarke (10-0, KO2) had to get off the deck in round four against Luis Enrique Montelongo Morales (18-17, KO4), before recording a 78-73 victory in their middleweight affair.

In six-round action, exciting heavyweight Leo Atang (6-0, KO5) was forced to go the distance for the first time, and took a 59-54 win on the referee’s card against Viktar Chvarkou (6-33, KO3).

Jack Power (8-0, KO2) was a final-round stoppage winner at middleweight against Novak Radulovic (21-16-1, KO8), and Tom Rafferty (17-0, KO7) forced Pablo Sosa (12-11-3, KO3) after the third round of their meeting, also at middleweight.

In the sole four-rounder on the bill, Sam Norris (3-0, KO0) took a shutout points win against Jahfieus Faure (4-25-3, KO0) at super featherweight.
