New York’s Updated Selections After Major Haul From Blockbuster Dexter Lawrence Trade

On Saturday, the Cincinnati Bengals and New York Giants made an aggressive trade that altered the 2026 NFL Draft. New York sent defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence to the Bengals in exchange for the No. 10 overall pick in this year’s draft.

With Lawrence going to the Bengals, new Giants head coach John Harbaugh gets a chance to improve his team with a pair of top-10 picks.

Which Picks Do the New York Giants Have in the 2026 NFL Draft?

New York now has eight picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, including the pair of top-10 selections in the first round:

  • Round 1: No. 5 overall
  • Round 1: No. 10 overall
  • Round 2: No. 37 overall
  • Round 4: No. 105 overall
  • Round 5: No. 145 overall
  • Round 6: No. 186 overall
  • Round 6: No. 192 overall
  • Round 6: No. 193 overall

NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported that rival front offices were stunned by the Giants landing the No. 10 pick, as they initially expected Lawrence to return a late first-rounder rather than a top-10 pick.

“When word spread around the league the #Giants were likely getting a first-round pick in exchange for Dexter Lawrence, many believed it would be a late 1 but Joe Schoen, John Harbaugh & Co. land a top 10 pick in exchange for the 17th pick in 2019,” he wrote.

In PFSN’s NFL Mock Draft Simulator, Giants users are most commonly drafting a linebacker (28.6% of the time), safety (14.1%), wide receiver (13.5%), running back (10.9%), or cornerback (9.6%).

The most commonly selected prospects by New York fans are Ohio State LB Sonny Styles (27.7%), Ohio State S Caleb Downs (13.1%), Notre Dame RB Jeremiyah Love (10.9%), and Ohio State WR Carnell Tate (7.4%). Now, New York may be able to land two of those four prospects depending on how the board falls on Thursday.

According to PFSN’s NFL Draft HQ, the Giants’ top needs are at WR, LB, OG, and S. Harbaugh and Co. will now have plenty of draft picks to address their biggest weaknesses.

In PFSN’s latest seven-round mock draft, Jacob Infante has New York selecting Styles at No. 5 and Downs at No. 10. This would be a fun story for the former Ohio State stars, as they would remain teammates in New York after dominating for the Buckeyes’ defense.

Styles soared up draft boards after his outstanding NFL Scouting Combine, while Downs is Infante’s “top overall prospect in the 2026 NFL Draft,” and the only reason he is projected to be available at No. 10 is because he plays safety.

Last season, the Giants had the NFL’s 23rd-ranked defense and 24th-ranked offense in PFSN’s Impact metrics.
