Buffalo Sharpshooter Ryan Sabol Commits to Providence – pcbb1917

Buffalo transfer Ryan Sabol has committed to Providence he posted on instagram on April 15th. .The 6-3, 195-pound combo guard from Washington, D.C., is coming off a breakout junior season while leading the league in 3-pointers (73) and starting all 32 games for the Bulls. Sabol averaged 18.9 PPG, 3.2 RPG and 3.3 APG in 36.2 MPG while shooting 40.3% from three on a massive 303 attempts (122 made triples was a Buffalo single-season record). He also shot 85.9% from the free throw line and posted a 59.7% true shooting percentage. The junior reached 1,299 career points (15th in Buffalo history), earned All-MAC Third Team honors and became just the second Bull ever to post a 600-point, 100-assist season in the same year.

“Ryan is a team-first player and we are excited that he will be part of our program next season,” Bryan Hodgson said in a release. “His development has come through hard work and growth during his college career.  He is a prolific scorer from the perimeter.  He made 122 threes and shot 40 percent from beyond the arc last season. Ryan ranked seventh in the nation in made three pointers.”

Sabol went to DC powerhouse Gonzaga HS. As a senior he averaged 11.3 PPG, 3.0 APG, 3.3 RPG, and 1.3 SPG while playing point guard. He was a low-profile recruit with no major offers from power conferences at the time and signed with Buffalo on April 20, 2023.

Sabol comes from basketball bloodlines. His father, Mike Sabol, played 19 games at forward for Georgetown (1988-90) after also playing at Gonzaga HS. That family connection to Big East basketball marks the second portal addition for Hodgson to have a Big East dad with Miles Byrd’s father, Calvin, playing at Villanova (1989-93).
