Tokyo 2025 World Athletics Championships Reviews,
Day 7: US Sweeps Gold in the 200 meters,
September 19, 2025
The highlights of Day 7:
- Noah Lyles, USA, wins his historic fourth title! Matching only Usain Bolt, Noah Lyles wins his fourth title at the 200 meters in 19.52. Kenny Bednarek, USA, took the silver, and Jamaica’s Brian Level took the bronze.
- Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, USA, completed her sprint double, with the 200m in 21.68. Melissa’s 100m/200m double was first since Moscow 2013, when it was done, of course, by Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce.
- Rai Benjamin, USA, won his first gold at the 400m hurdles in 46.52, after a DQ was appealed. Karsten Warholm, NOR, hit a hurdle and did not medal.
- Femke Bol, NED, defends her title at 400m hurdles in WL 51.54.
- Pedro Pichardo left the best until last. On his last effort, the Portuguese triple jumper hit 17.91m, a massive WL.
