UFC CEO Dana White is talking tough with Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn once again.
As White and TKO continue to build Zuffa Boxing, the UFC boss and Hearn continue their war of words. White has hurled expletives at Hearn, who responded by suggesting the two meet inside a boxing ring. Hearn believes the bout would be lucrative, which White is now using against the seasoned boxing promoter.
During the UFC 328 post-fight press conference, White claimed that Hearn is taking credit for being the biggest fight in boxing.
“I’m a clout chaser? This fruit loop came out and said he’s the biggest fight in boxing,” White said. “While he has ‘Bam’ Rodriguez and AJ and all these other fighters and all these other guys that are out there. He’s the biggest fight in boxing. Those were his words. You know what a [expletive] fruit loop you got to be to [expletive] say it? Nobody even knew who this guy was four months ago, and now he’s the biggest fight in boxing?”
The trash talk between White and Hearn revved up when Zuffa Boxing began to take off. White made a power play by signing Conor Benn, a fighter who had worked with Hearn for a decade. While it was initially a one-fight deal, Benn ended up signing a new five-fight contract.
Rumors have been swirling about some more potential big-name signings to be announced for Zuffa Boxing in the near future. Hearn claimed White tried to sway Anthony Joshua into signing with him, but the former heavyweight champion declined the offer and is sticking with Matchroom. Joshua and Tyson Fury appear to be on track for a mega fight if “AJ” can defeat Kristian Prenga on July 25.
Do you think Zuffa Boxing and Matchroom Boxing will eventually work together in order to get some big fights to come to fruition in the future?
