Having sparred Oleksandr Usyk a few years ago, Dave Allen has given his honest verdict on how a possible fight with Agit Kabayel would play out.

After Usyk’s last outing, many expect to see him face WBC interim heavyweight champion, Kabayel next and Allen gave a surprising prediction.

Since moving up to heavyweight in 2019, ‘The Cat’ has dominated the division with major wins against some of the sport’s biggest names.

In what may have been his toughest test to date, the Ukrainian took on British boxing icon Derek Chisora.

It was during his preparations for ‘Del Boy’ that ‘The White Rhino’ shared the ring with the unified heavyweight world champion,

He is a two-time undisputed heavyweight world champion and has seemed invincible at times, yet Allen spoke to Fight Your Corner and gave his honest thoughts on how a fight with the German could end differently to his previous 25 professional contests.

“I think he beats him [Usyk], I’ve always thought he’d beat him.

“He has the style to beat Usyk. I think Kabayel is an incredible fighter; he just has a bit of everything.”

“He has beat Zhang, he’s beat Makhmudov, he’s beat Sanchez.

“I just think stylistically he is the man to beat Usyk.”

Kabayel was last in action in January as he headlined in his home country of Germany, where he picked up a third-round stoppage victory over Damian Knyba.

Allen gave his verdict on his most recent outing.

“In his last fight people thought he was disappointing, but when you’re fighting an unbeaten guy, he is really there to change his life.

“Kabayel got caught a bit, but he stood up to them all and stopped him in three rounds.”

Usyk fought just last month as he headlined at the Pyramids of Giza against GLORY kickboxing icon Rico Verhoeven.

Verhoeven surprised many as he was ahead on one of the judges’ scorecards, and on many of the audience’s unofficial cards, before ultimately being controversially stopped in the 11th round.

With Usyk now 38-years-old and coming off a fairly lacklustre showing last time out, Kabayel will likely see this as the perfect time to challenge the reigning champion.

He is currently the number one mandatory challenger for Usyk’s WBC world title, so he may just get his shot.

If the Ukrainian is to vacate his title, Tyson Fury – who is currently ranked number one by the WBC – has shown an interest in fighting the German.
