A Porsche 911 GT3 Cup just ran 128 laps of the Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race on fuel made from green hydrogen and captured CO₂. Manthey Racing and the Griesemann Gruppe entered the #992 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Manthey in the 2026 ADAC RAVENOL 24h Nürburgring running entirely on eFuel Race 98, a synthetic eMethanol-based fuel produced through the DeCarTrans research project at TU Bergakademie Freiberg. FIA Accelerates Sustainable Innovation Through Data, AI and Global Mobility Leadership

The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has launched its 2026 Sustainable Innovation Series (SIS), positioning motorsport as a testbed for the future of sustainable mobility and highlighting how data and artificial intelligence could help shape safer, smarter and lower-carbon transport systems worldwide. The Intersection of Esports and Motorsports: Common Grounds and Future Potential in Sustainability

Motorsport has long been working to reduce its environmental footprint — from sustainable fuels and electrification to greener event operations. But one of the most intriguing pathways to a lower-carbon future may come from an unexpected direction: esports.

In a thought-provoking piece drawing on his doctoral research, Dr. Tunahan Aslan explores the common ground between motorsport and esports — two disciplines separated by era but united by a deep reliance on technology. At the heart of his argument is a compelling sustainability case: the digital infrastructure of esports, particularly sim-racing and virtual driver training, offers motorsport a genuine tool for reducing emissions, rethinking R&D, and engaging a new generation of environmentally conscious fans.

With F1, Formula E, and the FIA already accelerating their sustainability commitments, the idea of esports as a strategic partner — rather than just a marketing channel — is one worth taking seriously.

Could Formula E GEN4’s Epic New Performance Satisfy Max Verstappen?

Formula E’s GEN4 car is a statement of intent. With 600kW of peak power, a top speed above 208mph, and full-time all-wheel drive, electric racing is closing the performance gap faster than many expected — while still carrying the sustainability credentials that set it apart from traditional motorsport.

Whether that’s enough to silence the sceptics is the question James Morris tackles in this Forbes piece.
