De La Hoya’s 2-word message to Dana White

De La Hoya’s 2-word message to Dana White

Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn is a fight that has been rumoured heavily in recent months. Both won their previous fights, with Garcia capturing the WBC welterweight title. Since then, both have spoken openly about wanting to face each other next. One potential sticking point was thought to be Benn being with Zuffa and Garcia being with Golden Boy. Oscar De La Hoya, the founder of Golden Boy, and White have had various back-and-forths over the years. However, when speaking to Fight Hub TV, De La Hoya sent a clear message to White regarding Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn.

Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn: Benn welcomes WBC opportunity

Benn (25-1, 14 KOs) was last in action, defeating Regis Prograis in a largely uninspired performance. “The Destroyer” recently posted on social media, welcoming a fight against Ryan Garcia:

“Garcia, I want my belt! I want my belt. Keep my belt warm.”

“September. Let’s go. Any day of the week. Twice on Sundays. 10 rounds, easy. Garcia, you’re next. Keep my belt warm.”

Garcia (25-2, 20 KOs) produced a career-best performance last time out, defeating Mario Barrios to win the WBC welterweight title. Following Benn’s performance against Prograis, Garcia also welcomed the fight via social media, saying: “I’m down Garcia vs Benn let’s do it!”

Oscar De La Hoya send clear message to Dana White

When asked if Ryan Garcia vs Conor Benn was possible, De La Hoya said to Fight Hub TV: “Absolutely, it’s possible, but you think about this, he’s fighting for the Zuffa belt. Ryan Garcia is fighting for all the belts. He’s fighting for the WBC, WBA, IBF. Conor Benn’s with the Zuffa belts, the unicorn pink Zuffa belt. So, who knows if we can make that fight? But, look, if Dana White wants to call me, then we can start talking.

“This is all about the fighters. It’s not about me and Dana. Me and Dana have a beef going on, which is actually a lot of fun for me, but this is about the fighters. I can squash the beef easily, just to make this fight happen. But the fact Conor Benn is fighting for the rainbow belt, the unicorn belt, at Zuffa, I don’t know what their plans are, if the’re even wanting to fight for the WBC or the WBA, IBF, WBO, so whatever.

“Dana, call me. It’s all good.”
