Dmitry Bivol had his Russian homecoming after more than 500 days out of the ring due to injury as he faced Michael Eifert.
Bivol looked back to his best against Eifert, scoring a unanimous decision victory.
From the opening round, Bivol showed little sign of ring rust despite spending an extended spell out of the squared circle.
He floored Eifert towards the end of the first round and went on to dominate the early stages of the fight, looking far slicker and sharper than his opponent.
Rather than forcing a stoppage, the former undisputed light heavyweight world champion took his time and put together the patient boxing display that has become a trademark of a typical Bivol performance.
Bivol began to increase the pace towards the end of the fifth round and continued to punish Eifert, who struggled to get into range and offer any meaningful threat.
Going into the 10th round, it was much of the same. Bivol was cruising, while Eifert was nowhere near troubling the champion despite putting in a brave showing.
Bivol piled on the pressure in the 11th, clearly hurting his opponent with a brutal body shot that slowed Eifert down.
He chased the German around the ring and continued to dominate the action until the final bell.
With a statement victory, Bivol will now look ahead to a tougher test. Two names stand out for his next fight: Artur Beterbiev to complete their epic trilogy, or David Benavidez should he move back down from cruiserweight.

After his victory over Beterbiev in their second fight, the Russian was forced to undergo back surgery, but he proved tonight that he is still operating at the pinnacle of the sport.
Mukhammad Shekhov vs Yerny Betancourt
Shekhov made no mistake in the co-main event, beating Betancourt over 12 rounds.
The Uzbek put together an impressive performance, with all three judges scoring the contest in his favour. The scorecards read 118-110, 118-110 and 119-109.
After a dominant victory, the unbeaten fighter will now look to secure a world title shot later this year.

He is ranked highly by multiple governing bodies, sitting eighth with the IBF, third with the WBA and sixth with the WBO.
Remaining Undercard
Vadim Tukov extended his unbeaten record by defeating Sebastian Horacio Papeschi over 10 rounds. Ranked highly by both the WBA and IBF, he will hope to earn a world title opportunity at middleweight in the near future.
Some controversy followed the final bell, with the Argentine challenger appearing surprised that the contest had concluded after 10 rounds, as the fight had been listed as a 12-round bout by several reputable sources.
The three judges’ scorecards read 96-94 and 98-92 twice.
To kick off the main card, Nikita Zon made light work of Nahuel Gonzalo Garcia. Zon dropped the Argentine in both the fourth and fifth rounds.
The Russian claimed the WBA Gold super middleweight title and did so with relative ease.
