Dravid is Likely to Rejoin RR as Head Coach for IPL 2025

It’s just a few days since India won the T20 World Cup after 17 years. With that, Rahul Dravid ended his tenure of Team India’s head coach position. After that, a lot of buzz are going on in his association with IPL franchises for the head coach position. But now, the report suggests that Dravid is set to return as the head coach for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 season.

Dravid Completed His Tenure With Team India:

After representing India as a player, Rahul Dravid came back as a coach of the Indian team in 2021. After Ravi Shastri completed his tenure, Dravid held the helm. Under his guidance, team India achieved so many milestones. India won the Asia Cup in 203. In the same year, the team performed exceptionally well but lost the 2023 ODI World Cup final.

Dravid’s term as head coach of Team India was originally planned to end after the 2023 ODI World Cup. However, he agreed to a brief extension to guide the team through the 2024 T20 World Cup. This decision proved successful, as Team India won their second T20 World Cup trophy after a 17-year wait, thanks to his guidance.

Is Dravid in Talk with RR?

As per reports, former Team India head coach Rahul Dravid might return to the Indian Premier League in a coaching role with the Rajasthan Royals. Dravid has a strong history with RR, having previously been both a leader and a mentor. A report indicates that Kumar Sangakkara’s role as director of cricket is uncertain, potentially prompting the franchise to consider new coaching alternatives.

A source said, “Talks are going on between RR and Dravid, and an announcement in this regard is around the corner.”Nothing is confirmed yet. But Rajasthan Royals may look for new options to get the desired success. In previous yers, they had a great squad. But they still failed to lift the trophy.

In 2022, they failed the final but ended up facing a heartbreaking defeat. In the 2024 season, Rajasthan Royals started strong but suffered a series of defeats toward the end, missing a top-two finish. They were eventually knocked out by SunRisers Hyderabad in Qualifier 2. The team may consider new strategies to achieve the success they’re aiming for.
