It’s been a few months since Drew McIntyre was on WWE TV, last appearing in a loss to Jacob Fatu during Wrestlemania 42 Saturday. Drew McIntyre was left on the back burner during WWE’s recent European tour. However, WWE had The Chosen One on speed dial during Clash in Italy. There were concerns that Jacob Fatu wouldn’t be cleared to face Roman Reigns. However, The Samoan Werewolf pulled through and Drew McIntyre sat on the sidelines. As Drew McIntyre wraps up filming some Hollywood projects, there are rumors he’s heading back to WWE. In fact, images of Drew McIntyre training with Gangrel have now circled the internet.
Drew McIntyre Advertised for Upcoming Tours, Expected for SummerSlam
SummerSlam 2026 is a two-day spectacular in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the card is starting to take shape. There are many reports indicating that Drew McIntyre is expected to be a part of the event. That said, WWE is still trying to figure out the creative directions for The Scottish Warrior.
WWE expected Drew McIntyre back in action much sooner. He was heavily featured on WWE House Show materials. Yet, WWE Creative keeps holding off on his return as they have nothing lined up for the former WWE Champion.
Instead of waiting around, Drew McIntyre has filled his schedule with acting gigs. First, he filmed episodes for the Highlander reboot. Drew McIntyre is cast as Angus MacLeod, brother of Clan MacLeod.
After Highlander wrapped up, Drew started filming The Last Druid. This film features Russel Crowe, who plays a Celtic elder who attempts to protect his country from Roman rule.
While Drew McIntyre has been busy in Hollywood, WWE is busy touring the world. Now that WWE is back in North America, Drew McIntyre is prominently featured in promotional materials for their Canada Tour.
You don’t have to get ready for WWE to call if you stay ready. It looks like the Scottish-born Superstar is shaking off the ring rust in anticipation of a return. A recent pic of Drew McIntyre training has circulated on the internet.
Drew McIntyre Training with Gangrel
WWE veteran Gangrel has become one of the top trainers of independent stars. The man known as David Heath to friends and family has played a pivotal role in the careers of MVP, Jacob Fatu, Lola Vice, Rusev, and many others.
Currently, Gangrel is the head trainer of Coastal Championship Wrestling, based out of Pompano Beach, Florida. The Fangin’ and Bangin’ star also recently opened KECH Pro Wrestling Academy with Rusev in Nashville, Tennessee.
It’s not uncommon for WWE Superstars to run the ropes with legends who run wrestling schools. So, Drew McIntyre stopped by Rusev’s school to work on some reps with Gangrel.
Gangrel shared an image of Drew McIntyre training:
There is still no date set for Drew McIntyre’s return. Much like with CM Punk, the decision comes down to Creative and timing. Nonetheless, Drew McIntyre looks ready to go as we head into the Biggest Party of the Summer.
