- ETS 2 introduces Benelux Rework, enhancing the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg

Euro Truck Simulator 2’s V1.59 update is available to download now, adding two important map updates, plus a tranche of minor game improvements.
Volvo Trucks Experience Center
The headline feature for many will be the addition of the Volvo Trucks Experience Centre in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The VTEX (the VTEC acronym is probably a bit too free-revving) is a purpose-built facility where customers can learn about the brand’s engineering and get behind the wheel of its latest models on closed test roads, all of which are replicated 1:1 in-game.
The VTEX is available for free for all owners of the game’s Scandinavia DLC.
Benelux Rework
Developer SCS Software has also completed the onerous task of completely rebuilding Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg in ETS 2.
Cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Brussels and Luxembourg City have been given a fresh coat of paint, while new locations like Antwerp, Eindhoven’s DAF Trucks facility and the E40 motorway boost variety.
Thermo King
Refrigeration specialist Thermo King has added its name to all unbranded trailer refrigeration units in-game, with the firm’s A-360, A-400, A-500, SLXi-300, SLXi-400 and UT-1400R products appearing.
Tow-to-road
A tow-to-road feature has also been added in V1.59. If players fall off the road or get stuck in some scenery, they can select the ‘tow to road’ function via the Service menu (F7 key by default).
This plops the player back in the last safe highway-based location so they can continue their journey without reverting to a service area (a small fee applies, too).
Other improvements
The Damage and Finances widgets have been added in-game, providing immediate access to damage and financial information. This also offers an overview of your current finances, including your average profit over the last seven in-game days.
The widgets appear in the bottom-right corner of the screen when activated and can be enabled or disabled via the Widget Settings Menu.
The Skills screen has had its UI redesigned for better visibility, alongside wider UI tweaks, while traffic audio has been reworked, too.
The game’s Detour feature has been disabled as of V1.59, however, with SCS set to refine it further before hopefully reintroducing it at a later date.
