WARSZAWA (POL, Jun 7): Poland sprinting star Ewa Swoboda opened the season with a quality 10.99 (+0.9) in the 100 m at Halina Konopacka Classic women meeting (WACT Bronze). Jamaican Megan Simmonds beat over the hurdles in 12.79 (-2.4), another local star, Pia Skrzyszowska, 12.83 (12.61 in heats). Maria Zodzik cleared 196 to win the high jump, Iryna Gerashchenko second, 192. Marija Andrejczyk won the javelin with a throw of 62.78. Fatoumata Diallo achieved a national record 54.31 for Portugal in the 400 m hurdles ahead of Viktoriy Tkachuk 55.44. U23 Swiss sprinter Fabienne Hoenke won the 200 m in 22.73 (-0.1).
In close, 400m Paris Peoples 51.11, also Bassant Hemida 51.11, and third Justyna Swiety-Ersetic 51.98.
Dutch Eveline Saalberg, in her move from 400 to 800, won in 2:00.30, a PB. Second, Amanda Froynes from Norway, 2:00.35 PB, and another runner going from 400 to 800, Aleksandra Formella, 2:00.52 PB. Also, 1500 m had a close finish, Weronika Lizakowska 4:06.23 edging Soukaina Hajji 4:06.24. Liliana Ca won the discus with 63.10, with US Veronica Fraley second at 62.44. Milica Gardasevic topped the long jump 649 (+0.5).
