Eyes on Brands Hatch as the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup lashes out with its first round

 

In this already busy race weekend coming up fast, the fastest and most furious actions as far as Aston Martin Racing powered teams and crew will be from Brands Hatch in the UK where the GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup Series will be hosting their opening double header of the season.

A diverse yet competitive entry of thirty-four GT3 powered teams, including four from the Aston Martin Racing stable and their Partner teams of Comtoyou Racing and Walkenhorst Motorsport will do battle across their available classes within its two one-hour sprint races punctuated only by a mandatory pit stop for a driver change with probably tyres too.

 

Despite previously announcing a trio of AMR powered entries, this weekend’s list confirms just the #007 of Nicki Thiim and Kobe Pauwels alongside the #21 car of Oliver Soderstrom and Arthur Dorison from the Belgian based Comtoyou Racing team within their respective Pro and Silver classes.

They will be joined by two similar abled crews from the German based Walkenhorst team with Jamie Day and Mateo Villagomez again pairing up togther within the #35 car with Maxime Robin and Gaspard Simon within the #35 car – each racing within the Silver class.

 

This weekend’s timetable will see these thirty-four cars first hit the Grand Prix layout of the Kent track on Saturday morning with Free Practice 1 with another hour-long session just before lunch before Qualifying in the afternoon. With one Endurance Cup race win under Thiim’s belt from a couple of weeks ago – he will certainly be looking to add a Sprint Cup win to his name as soon as possible!

 

 

The two races will start at 11:15 and 15:45hrs local.
