Former WCW Star Tyler Mane Reveals Breast Cancer Diagnosis

Tyler Mane is going public with a very personal health battle. The former WCW wrestler and actor revealed that he has been diagnosed with breast cancer, and he is using his own situation to warn other men not to ignore the signs.

Mane, who wrestled in WCW as Big Sky before becoming known for roles like Sabretooth in the original X-Men film and Michael Myers in Rob Zombie’s Halloween movies, shared the news on Facebook. He said his first instinct was to keep the diagnosis quiet, but he changed his mind after learning how often male breast cancer goes unnoticed.

“Yep. I have breast cancer. And yep, it’s super rare. Only 1% of breast cancers are men. I’ll be honest, my first reaction was to keep it secret. I mean it’s kind of embarrassing.”

Mane said the reason he decided to speak out is because men are often diagnosed later simply because breast cancer is not something many people think to look for in men. He also credited his wife for pushing him to get checked.

“But then I found out that men are more likely to be diagnosed in advance stages BECAUSE it’s not talked about and not looked for. In fact, my doctors all dismissed it and it was only because my wife pushed me to get the lump removed that I got in early.”

Mane then urged people to spread the word and take the issue seriously. He pointed out that early detection can make a huge difference.

“So let’s start talking about it! 1 in 755 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime and if caught early, it’s VERY treatable. Time to answer the Wake Up Call! Like, Save, Share, Comment let’s spread the word!”

Before his acting career took off, Mane had a run in pro wrestling and was best known in WCW for teaming with Kevin Nash, who was working as Vinnie Vegas at the time. He also appeared as Woman’s bodyguard and wrestled in several places around the world, including Canada, Japan, and Mexico.

Mane eventually shifted into acting, where he built a career playing physically imposing roles in major films. His work as Sabretooth and Michael Myers made him recognizable to horror and comic book movie fans, while wrestling fans remember his time as Big Sky.

Now, Mane is using his platform for something much bigger than entertainment. By going public with his diagnosis, he is trying to make sure other men know breast cancer can happen to them too, and that getting checked early can matter.
