Goldberg Rejects Idea Of Wrestling Again

WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg made it clear that fans shouldn’t expect to see him stepping back into the ring for a barbecue-themed wrestling showdown anytime soon.

Goldberg spoke with Memphis in May at the World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, where the conversation turned toward a wrestling-style sauce competition that took place during the event. While the interviewer floated the idea of Goldberg joining in on the fun next year, the former WCW and WWE powerhouse quickly shut the idea down. After the interviewer brought up the event’s wrestling competition and asked if he would ever participate, Goldberg didn’t hesitate with his response.

Interviewer: “Would you ever, you know, get back in the ring for one of those?”

Goldberg: “Absolutely not.”

The moment quickly turned into a passing-of-the-torch situation, as the interviewer suggested Goldberg’s son Gage could potentially take part instead.

“But he would. We got to bring you guys back next year so you can really get in the ring and show some of your signature moves.”

Goldberg agreed and admitted that he already sees the future shifting toward his son.

Goldberg: “100%. And like I said, I passed that torch already. So, he’ll be doing it.”

Goldberg’s legacy in professional wrestling remains one of the most dominant runs in the business, but it sounds like he’s more interested these days in watching the next generation take center stage rather than throwing spears himself.
