Few men have been able to take Brock Lesnar to his limit, but the Beast Incarnate never met Oba Femi until WrestleMania this year. GUNTHER is known as the Career Killer, but he may not have Lesnar’s number.
Bully Ray says he is more interested in GUNTHER’s current storyline with Cody Rhodes than the idea of seeing GUNTHER retire Brock Lesnar in WWE. The discussion came up during a recent episode of Busted Open Radio after GUNTHER shifted his focus toward the Undisputed WWE Championship.
While discussing the situation, Bully Ray made it clear that, while the stories WWE is going with are interesting, one feud stands above the others. At this point, GUNTHER’s place on the roster is much more appreciated where he is.
“I am far more intrigued by the GUNTHER/Cody storyline and what it can turn into than I am GUNTHER and Brock. Also, Brock took off his boots and his gloves, post-WrestleMania match against Oba Femi. He basically symbolically retired, symbolically retired without saying the words, ‘I’m retired.’ Changed his mind, came back and attacked Oba on ‘Raw’ The only person I want to see officially retire Brock Lesnar is Oba Femi.”
Following WrestleMania 42, many fans expected GUNTHER to eventually face Brock Lesnar after teasing that Paul Heyman owed him a favor. Instead, WWE moved GUNTHER into a title program with Cody Rhodes heading into Clash in Italy.
Bully Ray added that having GUNTHER retire Lesnar would hurt the story WWE already told with Oba Femi at WrestleMania. He said he believes the direction is leading toward another match between Lesnar and Femi at SummerSlam after Clash in Italy.
“Oba can say, ‘I left you laying at WrestleMania. I left you laying so bad that you had to retire,’ Brock can say, ‘I left you laying in Italy. I left you laying so bad that you couldn’t stand up on your own two feet.’ How do we settle this? Last Man Standing for their career. Go to SummerSlam.”
GUNTHER is set to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WWE Clash in Italy. GUNTHER earned the match after winning a contract signing opportunity and then officially joining SmackDown to go after Rhodes. Meanwhile, Brock Lesnar is set to take on Oba Femi.
WWE Clash in Italy will take place on Sunday, May 31, 2026, from Inalpi Arena in Turin, Italy. WWE has promoted it as the company’s first premium live event in Italy, and the show will stream at 2 p.m. EST. We will have complete coverage here at Ringside News.
