IPL 2026 [WATCH]: Kagiso Rabada castles Suryakumar Yadav with a fiery inswinger in GT vs MI encounter

The 30th match of IPL 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad witnessed a high-octane clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI) on Monday. After winning the toss, GT captain Shubman Gill opted to field first on a surface that seemed to offer a bit of purchase for the pacers early on. While Mumbai fans were hoping for a resurgence to snap their four-game losing streak, the evening took a dramatic turn during the final over of the Powerplay, courtesy of a South African speed merchant who decided to turn up the heat in the humid Ahmedabad air.

Kagiso Rabada’s 152.1 kph thunderbolt shatters Suryakumar Yadav’s stumps in GT vs MI showdown

The highlight of the first innings was undoubtedly the 5.5 over, a moment that will be replayed on highlight reels for the rest of the season. Kagiso Rabada, already finding his rhythm, steamed in to face T20 maestro Suryakumar Yadav. SKY had just signaled his intent, having dispatched Rabada for a towering six over square leg and a crisp boundary straight down the ground earlier in the over.

However, Rabada’s response was a masterclass in aggressive fast bowling. Clocking a searing 152.1 kph, his third 150-plus delivery of the over, Rabada pushed the ball slightly fuller and angled it in with pinpoint precision. Suryakumar, looking to capitalize on his momentum, attempted a classical cover drive. But the ball nipped back ever so slightly, ghosting past the gap between bat and pad. The result was a cacophony of timber as all three stumps were splayed across the turf. It was an absolute ripper that left the world’s best T20 batter walking back for 15 off 10 balls, leaving MI reeling at 44/3.

MI stumble early against a clinical GT attack

The dismissal of Suryakumar was the centerpiece of a larger collapse for the five-time champions. Mumbai’s top order struggled to find any traction against a Gujarat bowling unit that operated with surgical efficiency. Rabada was the chief tormentor, finishing his opening spell with staggering figures of 3/29 in 3 overs. He struck early to remove debutant Danish Malewar (2) LBW and then accounted for the dangerous Quinton de Kock (13), who was undone by extra pace and caught by the bowler himself.

By the time the strategic timeout arrived at the 14-over mark, Mumbai Indians were struggling at 103/4. While Naman Dhir provided some resistance with a spirited 45 off 32 balls (6 fours, 1 six), he eventually fell to Prasidh Krishna, caught by Rabada.
