Jey Uso Dismisses Oba Femi as Just Another Superstar

Jey Uso is heading into the King of the Ring finals, and he is not acting scared of Oba Femi one bit.

After punching his ticket to the finals by beating Je’Von Evans on SmackDown, Jey now has a massive match waiting for him at Night of Champions on June 27 in Riyadh. Oba Femi is already waiting on the other side after defeating Dominik Mysterio, and WWE has made it clear the winner will walk away with the crown and a world title shot at SummerSlam.

While speaking to Jackie Redmond, Jey Uso made it clear he does not see Oba as some unstoppable monster. To him, Oba is just the next guy standing in the way.

“Oba Femi is just another man in my way, another chapter in my book that I’ve got to rip out. He’s just another character, another Superstar to me.”

That is a pretty direct message from Jey, especially with Oba being pushed as one of WWE’s most dangerous rising stars. Triple H has already made it clear he sees huge things in Oba’s future, even saying the powerhouse could become one of the biggest names the business has ever seen.

While speaking to Stephen A. Smith, Triple H talked about WWE needing to keep building young stars as veterans like John Cena and AJ Styles move closer to the end of their in-ring careers. Then Triple H gave Oba Femi the kind of praise most wrestlers would dream about.

“You always have to be thinking about the future and Jerry is correct. It’s about hiring youth and putting youth around you and keeping yourself young in that sense as a brand as you see the John Cena’s retiring, AJ Styles retiring as you see some of these talent at the peak of their careers you have to have those young talent underneath them.

“And when you see this new crop of talent Oba Femi is going to be as big as anybody has ever been in this business.”

Jey clearly is not buying into the hype, though. He leaned on his own family history and wrestling background, saying this business runs through his blood in a way Oba may not fully understand yet.

“This is my blood. I grew up in the game. Oba probably saw this and was like, ‘Oh, I can do that.’”

Jey also said there is no special game plan needed for Oba. As far as he is concerned, he is already ready for whatever comes his way: “Ain’t no preparing. I don’t care. I’m prepared.”

Jey’s confidence comes after a big win over Je’Von Evans on SmackDown at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Evans had plenty of fan support and has impressed since arriving on the main roster, but he could not get past Main Event Jey when it mattered most.

Oba may have the size, power, and Triple H’s public approval behind him, but Jey is walking into Riyadh like a man who believes this is still his story. Jey Uso is not treating Oba Femi like a monster. He is treating him like another obstacle. That attitude could either carry him to the crown or get him crushed by one of WWE’s fastest-rising stars.

What do you think about Jey Uso’s comments on Oba Femi? Is he right to be this confident, or is he overlooking one of WWE’s most dangerous young stars? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
