The Philadelphia Eagles already will welcome back defensive coordinator Vic Fangio before he heads to retirement. Now the franchise learned when Jihaad Campbell can return.
Fangio himself helped drop an update Thursday involving the linebacker via NBC Sports Philadelphia reporter Ashlyn Sullivan.
“Vic Fangio says Jihaad Campbell will be ready to participate in Eagles training camp,” Sullivan posted on the social media website X, formerly Twitter. “Doesn’t sound optimistic Campbell will be ready to play in OTAs after coming off shoulder surgery.”
OTAs is still voluntary for players. So the Eagles including head coach Nick Sirianni will be cautions in how they bring Campbell back up to speed.
Campbell flashed his potential when called upon: Tallying 80 tackles, 44 solo stops and one interception. The former Alabama star even produced an 11-tackle outing against the AFC runner-up Denver Broncos during the Eagles’ 21-17 loss back on Oct. 5.
Philly will expect Campbell to take new leaps this season, which further boosts the Eagles’ Super Bowl hopes.
