Kukushkin Will Retire In October

Mikhail Kukushkin turned pro in 2006 and will end his outstanding professional career after two decades when he will retire at his last tournament in October at Almaty Open.

The Russian Kukushkin, who switched to play for Kazakhstan in 2008, won his lone ATP singles title in 2010 in St. Petersburg by defeating Mikhail Youzhny in the final 63 76.

His best run at a major was fourth round at 2019 Wimbledon and semis at 2020 Australian Open doubles.

Kukushkin had some notable wins in his career beating Kevin Anderson, Grigor Dimitrov, Stan Wawrinka, Fabio Fognini, Gael Monfils, Tommy Haas and Andreas Seppi. He extended Novak Djokovic to five sets in Davis Cup and Rafael Nadal to four sets at Wimbledon.

His match record is 175-239 with $7.5m in career prize money.
