Loma Lookboonmee takes to the cage at UFC Macau on a card that caps off of a three-day run of events, with this UFC Fight Night effort transpiring on May 30th. Lookboonmee clashes with Jaqueline Amorim, and when offering up her thoughts on receiving a bout offer for this intriguing card at Galaxy Arena in Macau, China, on Saturday (through the assistance of an interpretor), Lookboonmee said [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“I was really excited when I got the call for this fight. It’s been seven years since I last fought in Asia. So I’m really excited to be competing near home again.”
When excitedly discussing how there will be certain people coming out to see her perform that haven’t gotten a chance to in quite a while, Lookboonmee stated [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“So Loma was just saying that her parents are going to be there for this one. As soon as the fight got announced, a lot of her friends reached out to her. They said like how do we buy tickets? We’re going to be there and it was just a great feeling knowing that she’d have people there to support her.”
Loma Lookboonmee “hasn’t been paying attention” to ATT product Jaqueline Amorim prior to UFC Macau booking
Loma Lookboonmee is fighting someone who looks to be a quality opponent here, and when discussing what her awareness level of Jaqueline Amorim, a surging product out of American Top Team, was before their fight booking, Lookboonmee quipped [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“So Loma said to be honest, she doesn’t really pay attention to the other women in her division unless she really likes a fighter. She doesn’t pay much attention. So obviously she doesn’t like her that much. So she hasn’t been paying much attention to her.”
George Hickman has historically been the gameplanning mastermind for Lookboonmee, who has been with her since the nascent days of her mixed martial arts endeavours. When discussing the historical precedent of Hickman going over the tape study proceedings for the Thailand-based combatant, Lookboonmee said [via Bowks Talking Bouts],
“Every fight is always George [Hickman]. He loves doing the tape study. Loma can tell you as well, like George always watches the tapes and reports back [laughs] cuz Loma doesn’t like watching her opponents. So George will do the the tape study and sometimes he’ll make her watch it with him. Then he’ll write down all the things to focus on for the fight.”
