The Road to UFC tournament returns for a fifth season this week, offering Asian MMA prospects a chance to fight their way into the UFC proper.
Ahead of UFC Macau, Road to UFC Season 5 debuts, with the second batch of fights taking place on Friday, May 29.
This year, flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight, and women’s strawweights are set to fight in the win-or-go home format, with quarterfinal action kicking off the three-round tournament.
Also featured on the second of two Road to UFC cards this week, China’s own Shi Ming, who won the RTU Season 3 tournament at strawweight, takes on India’s Puja Tomar. Ming will be fighting for the fifth time on a Road to UFC card, despite already having won a UFC contract. While he last two fights, and this latest one, count towards her UFC record, she’s still waiting to feature on a non-RTU show.
The delayed Road to UFC 4 flyweight final, Namsrai Batbayar vs. Yin Shuai, is also scheduled.
