Bruno Fernandes broke the record for most assists in a Premier League season as Manchester United cruised to a 3-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.

The Portuguese set up Patrick Dorgu for the Red Devils’ opener before netting the visitors’ third at The Amex, with Bryan Mbeumo also on the scoresheet.

That result meant Michael Carrick’s side finished third in the Premier League table and qualify for the Champions League, despite a disastrous first half of the season under Ruben Amorim.

In the wake of their win on the south coast, it has now emerged that United are in the race to sign a left-back from a Premier League rival.

As per CaughtOffside, Man United are interested in Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall, who could leave St. James’ Park this summer.

The report claims that United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, is a huge admirer of the full-back and is pushing the club to make a move to sign him this summer.

Hall, 21, joined Newcastle on loan from Chelsea in 2023 and made the move permanent the following year.

In total he has played more than 100 times for the Magpies across all competitions, providing seven assists.

This season the defender featured 47 times, but missed out on a place in Thomas Tuchel’s squad for the World Cup in the United States this summer.

According to the report, Hall’s long-term future in the North East now seems less certain than it did earlier this year, despite the Englishman having more than three years remaining on his current contract.

Newcastle are said to have set a price tag of around £55 million for the left-back, but the Magpies aren’t actively looking to sell the player and will therefore only consider a sale if their valuation is met.
