Mark Briscoe has finally returned on AEW Dynamite after being away for months because of injury, and he wasted no time reigniting an old rivalry.
The May 13, 2026, episode of AEW Dynamite featured the surprise return of the former TNT Champion, who had not appeared on TV since March. Briscoe showed up backstage during the show, reunited with The Conglomeration, and immediately turned his attention toward Tommaso Ciampa.
Briscoe called out Ciampa. He stated that their issues are far from finished.
AEW Star Mark Briscoe returns after months away
Briscoe had not wrestled in AEW since the March 11 episode of Dynamite, where he teamed with The Young Bucks in a losing match against FTR and Ciampa. After that, he quietly disappeared from TV, which led many fans to wonder what happened.
Weeks later, reports finally explained the situation. According to PWInsider, Briscoe had been dealing with an undisclosed injury and was taking time off to recover.
Before his absence, Briscoe was involved in a feud with Ciampa over the TNT Championship. Their rivalry became more intense after Briscoe lost the title to Ciampa on the January 31 episode of Collision.
Things turned personal in March when Briscoe accidentally cost Ciampa a match. That led to a brutal attack from Ciampa and a major heel turn. The storyline was clearly building toward a bigger feud before Briscoe’s injury forced AEW to pause everything.
Now, after about two months away, Briscoe looks ready to continue right where the rivalry left off.
“Tommaso Ciampa, next Wednesday on Dynamite, I want your ass son! You hear me?” Briscoe said on this week’s Dynamite.
Interestingly, AEW has not announced many matches for its upcoming shows. Nevertheless, the cards are still mostly open. AEW has already confirmed that Briscoe will return to the ring soon against Ciampa. However, the company has not revealed exactly which show will feature the match.
