Mike Santana’s TNA future just got a lot more interesting, because now there is a clearer idea of when his current deal is up.
Santana has been expected to become a free agent this year, and WWE has already been linked to interest in bringing him in. Now, PWInsider adds that Santana’s current TNA contract runs through sometime in July, giving WWE a possible window to make a move if he does not re-sign.
That makes the timing important. Santana has become one of TNA’s top names during his current run, but if his deal is only locked in through July, the clock is already ticking on whether TNA can keep him or whether WWE gets a real shot at landing him.
It was also claimed that sources within WWE believe Santana will be leaving TNA and signing with WWE once his contract expires. Santana was previously set to become a free agent in late 2025, but he re-signed with TNA at the time. Now, his deal is once again back in the spotlight.
This also follows an earlier update which noted that WWE had interest in Santana. That update also said at least one member of WWE’s main roster was strongly in favor of bringing him in.
Santana’s work and professionalism are also said to be well regarded, which only helps his case if WWE decides to push harder once his deal gets closer to the finish line. There is still no word on where Santana would land if he signs with WWE. However, WWE was said to have interest in getting him on the main roster by the end of the year if they are able to bring him in.
Losing Santana would be a big hit for TNA, especially after the way he rebuilt himself as a singles star. At the same time, WWE would give him a much bigger platform, and with his contract running through sometime in July, this situation could heat up fast.
